Robert Pattinson Photos: Meet Twilight's Star (SLIDESHOW)

Robert Pattinson has skyrocketed to super-stardom, at least for a subset of female fans, thanks to his role as vampire Edward Cullen in the film version of "Twilight," which opens today and and has already sold out thousands of screenings.

The 22-year--old Brit was first seen in "Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire," but that was nothing compared to the teeming masses of girls sleeping out at malls for him now.

Known in part for his hair, which he has said he rarely washes, Pattinson also appeared on "Ellen" Friday. He claims not to get the big deal with his hair. Pattinson also says that he's single and ladies don't want to date him. Scroll down to watch.

I agree with the last comment. Rob Pattinson is irrepressibly sexy. I don't even know how to describe other than his strange appearance appeals to me. It is his seemingly awkwardness before these screaming throngs that appeals to me. He has something that is different than what is normally seen in Hollywood. He seems unaffected if not puzzled by all of this attention...very mildly put. I could think of a thousand and one kind lavish sensual things I would do to him BUT I don't mean to cheapen this comment. He just has something that has not been duplicated. He is fabulous in Twilight and he shows a great deal of versatility. I wish him a tremendous amount of success and blessing because he seems extremely genuine. Goddess bless the woman who receives this gift, this man. Oh my I am gushing, pardon moi. Yes, I want my own Edward too!

I don't know how old you are, but I'm 25 and I feel the same way. I look at him like "Ughh" & I don't get the big deal. I see cuter guys in coffee shops or Walmart or on my way to work everyday.
