Dirty Tricks? Thousands Of GOP Ballot Requests In Georgia Don't Have Signatures

A Republican-generated effort to get out the vote for the Dec. 2 runoff election has hit a snag as thousands of requests for absentee ballots have been denied because the applications were not signed.

County elections officials are contacting voters by mail, directing them to print applications from county or state election Web sites and fax them in by Wednesday.

All ballots that are not signed on the signature line should be disallowed. This is just a way to avoid being charged with voting fraud. No signature, no crime.

No! No! No! These were not "Dirty Tricks!" This was, and is, ELECTION FRAUD!! The GOP has been doing Crap like this since Murray Chotiner and Dick Nixon showed them how in the late FORTIES!! Nothing new here, just GOP SOP!!

There is a complete list of these 'firms' who will gladly perform these 'services' for willing and well-funded campaigns of any stripe. Trouble is the GOP is the only party that NEEDS to Cheat in order to 'Win' elections. They don't have the numbers, and haven't, since the Nixon administration.

If all the votes had been counted in every election since Nixon the entire Congressional landscape could've been much different. It must come to an end. Jail all the operatives, Period!!

read the actual article before getting riled up. these were REQUESTS for an absentee ballot, not the ballots themselves. The GOP shot itself in the foot, via lack of attention to detail (the "sign here" line was not very obvious on something THEY ONLY SENT OUT TO REGISTERED REPUBLICANS in a GOTV effort so that 44% of REPUBLICANS missed signing before sending - this does not affect Democrats).

Too darn funny. They can still get their absentee ballots if they go to a website, print out the request, sign it and then fax it in by Wednesday. This was already a test on "can you follow instructions", and they missed one very simple step, I think that whole process of go-to-we-b­-print-fil­l-out-CORR­ECTLY&cOMP­LETELY-the­n-fax is WAAAAAY beyond their capabilities. Obama's organization is down there and stands a good chance of SPANKING the Repub's GOTV *again*.

How do we know these were sent in by Republicans? Perhaps they included some Democrats of others on the voting rolls ,on their lists...or someone else sent in these improper cards.

Let's say someone has already sent in a valid request. This card might cancel that request, particularly if it has a different address. If the cards are "authorized" then a ballot may be sent to an incorrect address... a legitimate voter may not receivetheir absentee ballot.

Or possibly the ballot might be sent and a forged signature ballot submitted. The addresses should be checked by some sort of inspector to see if there are acts of fraud involved.

What's happening is operatives for the republicans are making copies of the applications and using republican voter registration rolls to fill them out for that person so they will receive them in the mail.

then they are more likely to send them in since they don't have to go to the trouble of filling out the application themselves.

the reason they need a signature is to prevent just this kind of voter scam. the applications should all be thrown away. the names written in cursive were an attempt to get the application approved and avoid breaking the law by not signing the form where it asked for the signature.

We desperately need to clean up our voting and voting registration systems.

Job #1: Require government-issued photo ID at the precinct.

#2: No registration by mail. In person only, with government-issued photo ID.

#3. Absentee ballots only issued in person, with government-issued photo ID required. Those with medical issues must have a doctor-signed form and photocopied government-issued photo ID to get an absentee ballot.

Many argue that requiring government issued ID is unconstitutional. It disenfranchises many elderly and disabled voters. You are promoting many difficulties by way of registering and voting. You must have a Dr. signed form...out­rageous!
