I Like ItI Don’t Like It

From the department of awkward timing: Days after video of Sarah Palin's interview in front of slaughtered turkeys became a web sensation, the conservative group Our Country Deserves Better releases a Thanksgiving-themed ad "thanking" Palin.

The opening of the spot features an announcer praising Palin...in front of images of roasted turkeys.

Take a look:

Some text from the email announcing the advertisement:

Friends, too many times we've seen politicians who "sell out" to the media or political pressure and succumb to politically correct, liberal positions, rather than fight for conservative beliefs. But Gov. Sarah Palin has stood steadfast by her conservatism, both in public as a politician, and in her own private life - carrying to full term her baby boy, Trig, rather than opting out for an abortion as some would have had her done. She believed in the value of that life, just as she believes in the greatness of America.

It's time for us to stand behind Sarah Palin now, not just to support her, but to also show other politicians that if they take the risk to champion conservative ideals, that they will find support from we, the American people.

Just curious who was the token black man and how much do you think they had to pay to be in it?

As Sarah's $22,000 Hollywood face artist proved, it's amazing what you can do with make up.

The party of the Old South and Appalachia continues marching off the cliff. Comedy at its best.

So the turkey is a metaphor for the Republican/Neocons right?

Haha!

First, Sarah talks turkey, then the media throws a Palin bash, now Palin camp rolls out the defense.

Sounds just like Thanksgiving to me.

What really bothers me it this statement, "Gov. Sarah Palin has stood steadfast by her conservatism, both in public as a politician, and in her own private life - carrying to full term her baby boy, Trig, rather than opting out for an abortion as some would have had her done."

The part that gets me is "rather than opting out for an abortion as [SOME WOULD HAVE HAD HER DONE]."

It ticks me off that conservatives think that pro-choice supporters want everyone to have an abortion all the time. Hello--it's pro-CHOICE, emphasis on CHOICE! I would never tell or suggest to some one to have an abortion--whether or not there might be complications. The choice between continuing a pregnancy or terminating a pregnancy is strictly the choice of the woman who is pregnant and the people she chooses to involve in that decision.

Pro-choice supporters, at least I speak for myself, simply want the freedom to choose, to make their own decisions, not to have conservatives dictate what THEY think is right. Pro-choice supporters mind their own business whereas conservatives must have their noses stuck in everyone's business.

It bothers me, too, archivesgirl14. I support Palin's choice because she made it. I support Bristol's choice because she made it. Forcing someone to abort is as bad as forcing someone to carry a pregnancy to term.

It bothers me that Palin says she supports a "culture of life," but supports the death penalty and hunting for sport, not just for food. If she were opposed to abortion, wars of offense, the death penalty, and hunting for sport, then I'd say she supports a "culture of life." What I see is a woman who values life only between conception and birth.

Yes, really, what the world needs now is more Down syndrome children. That will fix everything.

Children with downs syndrome may not be perfect, but neither are you. Having children, or not, shopuld be a choice, and not a fix-up task. If you want to pick on Sarah, be my guest, but don't go after the children. After all, isn't that what Obama said?

This comment is a little harsh. I am not sure if it is an attempt to be clever or funny but it is neither. You need to think about the underlying message here.I mean REALLY think about it.

Here is the irony of this Palin ad. Read this portion: too many times we've seen politicians who "sell out" to the media or political pressure and succumb to politically correct, liberal positions, rather than fight for conservative beliefs.

Isn't Palin the one who just completed the Palinpalooza "look-at-me" media blitz? Isn't she the one who is considering multimillion dollar book deal, movies, interviews, her own talk show? Selling out to the media?????...............Sounds a little like Miss P.

Plus, she hasn't been at the top of any National ticket yet. So, she hasn't had the pressure to try and please both sides of the fence (Rebublicans, Independents, Democrats, etc). She hasn't proven anything. If she wants to be a serious condender in 2012, she will have to broaden her base and that will mean she will have to alter some of her conservative positions. What a joke.

Let's see if I can follow the logic. She decided to carry her downs syndrome baby full term, so she has proven that she loves America and is qualified to be President of the United States. What?

Gosh. I have a family member who made the choice to carry her downs syndrome baby full term. Is SHE qualified to be President? Wow. She's a Democrat too. Guess it's not just Rebulicans who love America?

What crazy logic?
