Rachel Maddow On Conan, Talks Fan Mail From Straight Men, Favorite Childhood Game Called "Iran" (VIDEO)

Rachel Maddow, the increasingly popular MSNBC host and the subject of a new Newsweek profile, appeared on Conan O'Brien Friday night for what proved to be an entertaining chat. One particularly amusing part of the interview involved Maddow talking about being a serious child--"I was sort of born a little old guy"--whose favorite childhood game was called "Iran," which was based on the Iran-Iraq war. She also discussed her fan mail, which tends to include lots of letters from straight man asking about being a lesbian.

She totally rocks! As an openly gay man, I applaud her for humor and honesty. Change for our community is happening, like or not. I've been listening to her radio show for a couple of years now. I thought it was great that she was often called up as a pundit on MSNBC, incredible that took on guest hosting of Countdown, and was nothing less than amazed that some exec showed the good judgment to give her a show of her own.

And yes, I'm another who has a bit of a crush on her.

Well, that's an offensive remark to all us "straights" who don't attach a sexual preference prerequisite to our love of another human being. All respect due you, of course. )
It is sad that almost every article or talk show appearance Rachels "gay" has to be a part of it. It takes away so much valuable time and column space that could be used to learn so much more about her and the amazing brain she has.
There is nobody else presently "on the air" that can coherently put a thought, question, or response together in lightening speed like Rachel Maddow.
