The New York Times reports that one factor in Hillary Clinton's decision on moving to the Cabinet is a disappointment with the Senate:

The uncertainty, a week after Mr. Obama met with Mrs. Clinton in Chicago to discuss the idea of her leading the State Department, kept Washington spinning in feverish speculation about whether the two former rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination would team up. Mrs. Clinton was keeping counsel only with a tight circle of confidants, leaving even prominent veterans of the Clinton political operation guessing as to her intentions.

But driving her consideration, friends said, is a sense of disenchantment with the Senate, where despite her stature she remains low in the ranks of seniority that governs the body. She was particularly upset, they said, at the reception she felt she received when she returned from the campaign after collecting 18 million votes and almost becoming the first woman nominated for president by a major party.

"Her experience in the Senate with some of her colleagues has not been the easiest time for her," said one longtime friend who insisted on anonymity in exchange for sharing Mrs. Clinton's sentiments. "She's still a very junior senator. She doesn't have a committee. And she's had some disappointing times with her colleagues."

I'm sure Mrs. Clinton thought no one would remember the things she said on the trail about her opponent, you know, the one who won. Yeah, that one.

well this is just more evidence of the sense of entitlement.

celebrity got her the job of senator, and she thought celebrity should propel her to a leadership in the senate. everyone should bow to her celebrity and give her whatever she wants.

Well she should be "disenchanted" with the old boys club in the Senate. Term limits, I say

And she should be able to bypass Senators with seniority because she's the one and only HILLARY!? Yup lets change all the rules so her ego can be satisfied. You don't see other women Senators whining do you? Maybe because they're not HILLARY! the 10th wonder of the world. And yes I'm using HILLARY! because that's the way she sees herself. I've never trusted her and never will. She'll be out of SecState before the first year is out because she is incapable of functioning unless she is in charge.

I would never disagree that there needs to be some changes in the senate and getting rid of MRS Clinton is a step in the right direction. And for the record; She is incapable of functioning when she IS in charge. HER CAMPAIGN PROVES THAT.

WHAT? You're kidding me, come on! I'm afraid Ms. Clinton will be disenchanted with ANYTHING but the Presidency. LOL! The Clinton ego is too big to berth in the Aerodrome. Hope Barack has a really big pin, he's gonna need it.

Oh, please. She seemed fine with being the Senator From New York when she wasn't elevated to the presidency. Now that she has another offer, she's "disenchanted". yawn.

from all I have read, she thought the Senate was the means to an end (the presidency), now that she realizes it will lead to nowhere she is disenchanted. that this inept loser has to constantly be rewarded boggles the mind.

Why are you so quick to believe anonymous sources? What friends do you have that would anonymous trash you to the NY Times?

I'm torn about Hilary. My first pick for SOS was Bill Richardson. But I've since gotten behind Hilary. I'm still skeptical though I do think Bill Clinton will do something incredibly stupid too mess up Hilary. I also think Hilary's people are incredibly small minded, unethically loyal, and will be a nightmare as they try and hold onto any power and influence they have. Absorbing the Clinton circus could be deadly for Obama.

That said this article disturbs me. You get the feeling that Hilary expected to come to the Senate and be entitled to influence, power and senior posts without earning it and staying in line. This is like some kind of entitlement chip on her shoulder that she probably inherited from Bill....another negative influence on her sometimes.

Remember... O is in charge... if that nonsense should happen... he can FIRE her... and that would ruin her career.....

I think she will keep those losers of hers under control!

Exactly. Yet the talking heads keep insisting that Obama can't ever fire her. I LMAO every time another one of those puppets makes that ridiculous claim.

Her career is ruined but he can't fire her or she will publicly weep. Pity got her into the Senate, tears got her New Hampshire. If it works why fix it?

'I think she will keep those losers of hers under control!'

Of course, she's a Clinton and thus is entitled to step over all the members who are her seniors and take the leadership position because she got 18 million votes in the primary. Are you surprised?

The good news is that Obama can kick her out if she does not do her job.

The Senate of the United States was formed on the example of the ancient Roman Senate.

Lot's of fiddling.

Well yes, you are right. But our founders did have in mind the more activist Senate of the Roman Republic as opposed to the rubber-stamp senate of the Roman Empire. I guess that history shows that legislative bodies are subject to entropy when they are not refreshed by meaningful change.

Let's see, the country is in near collapse and Hillary is upset because she wasn't given the royal treatment upon her return to the Senate. Good Grief!

On top of that, many of her colleagues endorsed Obama.

Appointing Hillary is a mistake. And letting Colin Powell, who believes in school vouchers for religious schools, anywhere near the Department of Education is also a mistake.

What is it with you people. Are you really so ignorant as to believe that cabinet positions make policy? Well, they don't. The President of the United States (that be Obama) makes policy and the people he has appointed implement that policy.
