LOS ANGELES — A security guard shot and killed a man wielding two Samurai swords Sunday on the grounds of a Scientology building in Hollywood, police said.

The unidentified man approached three guards around noon in the parking lot of the Scientology Celebrity Centre, Los Angeles Deputy Police Chief Terry S. Hara said.

The man was "close enough to hurt them" when one of the guards shot him, Hara said. Detectives were questioning the guard to figure out the swordsman's motive and determine whether the shooting was justified.

Surveillance tape showed the man arriving at the center's parking lot in a red convertible, then approaching the guards with a sword in each hand, Hara said.

"The evidence itself, it's very, very clear," Hara said. "The security officers were defending their safety."

Detective Wendi Berndt told the Los Angeles Times the man was involved with the church a long time ago.

"There was a previous relationship, but it is unclear to what degree," Berndt said.

Calls to Scientology spokespeople were not immediately returned Sunday.

The Celebrity Centre includes a seven-story Norman-revival landmark that towers over the Hollywood freeway and used to be a residential hotel for movie stars.

The castle-like facility now serves as "a home for the artist, a place where he can come and learn, attend seminars, meet other artists and even perform at our many showcases and events," according to the center's Web site.

The Church of Scientology was established in 1945 by science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard. It teaches that technology can expand the mind and help solve problems and claims 10 million members around the world, including celebrity devotees Tom Cruise and John Travolta.

It's not often where a massacre gets thwarted that you actually find some people who seem a bit upset that it was. Wonder if someone should call the FBI.

Massacre thwarted? A pair of swords versus a set of guards armed with semi-automatic pistols? Your statement begs the question, citizen; who massacred whom here?

Hail Xenu.

So it appears that HP is now running ads for this dangerous CULT on their website. Nice HP! Desperate for advertisers?

I learned bilocation. I learned brain surgery in less than an hour with two fifteen minute breaks. I learned to read, write and speak Chinese while performing my first heart transplant. I saw God and corrected him on a few of his mistakes (he was thankful). And I never could have done all of this in one day without Scientology!

Good stuff!
I think I'll join.

LOL! And it probably only cost you thousands of dollars. Sounds awesome! :-)
08:11 PM on 11/24/2008
Want a really good laugh? Walk into the Scientology center near you and ask them about Xenu and how their entire so-called religion is based on a tale of Xenu, a space alien throwing people here on earth into volcanoes -- and what you are being "cleared" of are repressed memories of this event.

A hundred bucks says they throw you out and call the cops.

Scammers don't like to be called on their scams.

He probably got to OT 5, found out about Xenu and the volcanoes, snapped and wanted his doe back.

As a sidebar, I know far more people who've gone broke through Scientology than have been helped by it.

BE AWARE! When you read a positive post on here about scientology PLEASE check the person's profile. You will notice most are BRAND NEW to HP and I would bet are staff members of COS here to spin the PR of this DANGEROUS CULT!!!

There is a lot of information out on the internet and Youtube about the dangers of this CULT! Please do your own research!
05:54 PM on 11/24/2008
Sorry, but if you're talking about me, I'm not a staff member just someone who uses Scientology in my everyday life.

Be obscure clearly.
06:03 PM on 11/24/2008
Or is scientology using you?

Anecdotal evidence is meaningless from a scientific perspective. Placebos work more than half the time, as well.

Keep posting though, RA. For any readers unfamiliar with the ridiculous claims made by scientology, you are definitely "raising awareness".

I had heard that he was called to the centre and was to utilise the special code 'Sword wave', which means - hello boys! Obviously the un-trained guards weren't hip to this, so they shot him, a perfectly understandable mistake, any normal person would do the same - stupid church!

Mario did the L Rundowns ... VERY VERY expensive Indeed! This is something only the very rich in Scientology can afford!

http://www.truthaboutscientology.com/stats/by-name/m/mario-majorski.html

He was IAS as well. This guy was knee deep in Scientology for awhile!

Once he left, he was branded a troublemaker.

You can bet the PR Department is working OT (pun intended) today.
05:56 PM on 11/24/2008
It is obvious he did the L's before the GAT (Golden Age of Technology). He should have returned to the church to remove the correct malicious body thetans.
06:25 PM on 11/24/2008
Ever since Hubbard died someone keeps inventing NEW routines to fix the ones Hubbard got wrong! Even though he claimed HE alone was the ONLY Source of technology to free mankind, new stuff arrives every decade to 'improve' the defective product. Or is it just repackaging to milk more money??? Is David M. inventing new routines now? I bet Mithoff pulled a power play. GAT sounds like a gimmick he would have come up with to keep his job and to make mucho bucks for $cientology and the guys at the top.

Do the registrars still get a healthy cut of the money that they procure? Some of them made a fortune while all others on Staff starved!

The body thetans? I thought they were only addressed on OT3?

Still have no idea why this guy had to be shot ... tasers would have been a MUCH more pro-survival option. No?

How can people believe such utter nonsense? "malicious body thetans".

Why would a "church" need armed security guards?
Why do you block off streets and prevent people from being able to walk up to your centers?
Why do you refuse to have video cameras and media personnel come inside your centers?
Why all the secrecy?

SCIENTOLOGY IS A DANGEROUS CULT!

"Authorities said they were not sure why Mario Majorski, 48, traveled from Oregon to the center Sunday morning but indicated he had "created problems" for the church in the past, said Det. Wendi Berndt"

Wonder if he was involved with the Portland Scientolgy Center?

He created problems for the Church? Like??? Asking for a Refund? That's a HUGE No-NO.

He was deeply involved in the church as he's done a bunch of courses / levels.

Wonder what this was all about?

Hello peacemongertoo,

I just wanted to answer your question about what I specifically receive/received as a result of using Scientology's spiritual technology. Here is a partial list:

I quit smoking in one session. Raised my IQ. Happier and more awake than ever. Increased athletic ability. Increased zeal for life. Increased communication abilities. Know-how and an ability to snap myself out of any negative emotion. Ability to speed up the process of physical healing. For example I was able in one session to bring back feeling to my ankle after an injury caused me to lose all feeling. Greater love and understanding for my fellow man and myself. More knowledge about life and death. Validation of past lives. Increased self-respect. Know-how of how to snap people out of depression, anxiety etc.. with almost no effort. Did this dozens of times in just minutes. Went from a B student to an A student. Have the confidence and know-how to learn any subject. Better able to see the true causes of problems in my life and others and the knowledge on how to handle those problems. Increased earning potential. Able to confront tough situations much better, etc........

These benefits are shared by most Scientologists and actually there are a lot of non-Scientologists who use and benefit from the technology also. Again this is just my partial list.

Hope this helps you understand why I feel this spiritual tech is invaluable.
03:59 PM on 11/24/2008
Not only invaluable but priceless. Just check the price list.
04:12 PM on 11/24/2008
Actually, it didn't cost much at all and I'd gladly pay 5 times over what it did. A lot of these benefits can be obtained free of charge by just reading a book from the library or going to one of their many websites.

People don't believe this nonsense! Do your own research!

Scientology is a dangerous CULT that robs people of their money and destroys lives!!!

The entire book ... Madman or Messiah ... here FREE online.

http://www.clambake.org/archive/books/mom/Messiah_or_Madman.txt

Would make a tremendous movie. Co-written by L R Hubbard Jr. who was there at the beggining of it all.

COS members are FORBIDDEN to read this one ever.
03:32 PM on 11/24/2008
The Los Angeles Police Department has already decided this was a justifiable homicide. Maybe in this guy's next life, he will be able to rid himself of the body thetans that made him crazy. He probably left before the GAT (Golden Age of Tech) and that is why he went nuts.

Evidently the Hiro character in Heroes is also loosely based on the Protagonist from Snow Crash. Snow Crash is a great read.

It's cool to see other people aware of the reference, but a pity that somebody had to die.
02:24 PM on 11/24/2008
Sounds like someone thought he was Hiro Protagonist (the Deliverator) from "Snowcrash". There is a character (L. Bob Rife) in that book based on L. Ron Hubbard. He is the leader of a cyber-cult and lives out at sea on an aircraft carrier. Hiro carries two samurai swords. Great Book.
