13-Year-Old Student Arrested For "Passing Gas" In School

STUART, Fla. — A student at a Florida school has been arrested after authorities said he was "passing gas" and turning off his classmates' computers. According to a report released Friday by the Martin County Sheriff's Office, the 13-year-old boy "continually disrupted his classroom environment" by intentionally breaking wind. He then shut off some computers other students were using.

The Spectrum Junior-Senior High School was arrested Nov. 4.

A school resource officer placed the boy under arrest after he confessed about his behavior, according to the report. He was charged with disruption of school function and released to his mother.

Nice to know crime is down in Stuart that the police an be called out on this.

I would have loved to have seen the cops do this with me. Yeah, call my mom up and tell her that I've been arrested for farting. She probably would have been arrested too, but for assault on a police officer.

Cutting off computers is a no-no and the parents should deal with the kid. As far as the farting goes, that is a natural body function. If it was too stinky he should have been sent home or to the bathroom. Getting arrested is something a Republican would have done. At least the kid didn't ask the teacher to pull his finger.

I surprised that it doesn't mention that Spectrum is an "alternative learning center" where kids having difficulties in other schools go to so they can get their diploma. (My brother graduated from there in the 90's).

As a kid I did a fair amount of class disruption, but never got arrested for it, just sent to the principal and suspended. One day when I was in 6th grade I organized the class to push their books off the desk at 1 pm. I guess if I was a schoolkid now, I would be behind bars. Can't kids be kids anymore?

The police gave up chasing the drug dealers, so they needed a way to justify their taxpayer funded jobs.
