Dana Perino: Obama A "Phenomenal Candidate," "I'll Give You Eight Months" For Press Honeymoon

The network stars were gone, the seats half empty and the questioning low-key as Dana Perino held a White House briefing last week, her biggest announcement that the administration would try to ease air traffic for the holidays.

President Bush has faded from the news, and the last year has been hard on his press secretary as she tried to follow his orders not to defend him from the verbal assaults of the campaign to succeed him.

"We took it from all sides, and it was difficult," Perino says. "When you're that close to your boss, it's hard sometimes not to take it personally."

Perino marvels at the glowing press that Barack Obama has gotten -- "He was a great candidate, a phenomenal candidate," she says -- but warned his incoming chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, that it wouldn't last forever. "I'll give you eight months," she told him.

Anyone buying TV these day apparently make more than $250K. These news show on Pay TV are there to earn a living. They know most Americans are still stuck on stupid therefore, it is there job to say or do topics that distracts from the real issues.

The last time we had democrats in office was when the clintons were in office. They have been working on other jobs in these 8 yrs. The combo of their experience in the WH 8 yrs ago plus the current lesson learned will enhance our chances to solve a lot of the problems of lost jobs, health care that other countries and their business benefit from unlike Americans shoting ourselves in the foot that we are not taking advantage of things that work.

If some people complained that Obama was not experienced enough, Clinton had more, why not hire some of those people who may have better ways to do the job now. They can't be any worst than Bush. We are so deep in a hole, the hole is the size of the grand canyon. Just how long do you think it will take all of us to climb out of this hole. The bus we all came over the cliff in, has been destroyed by Bush/Cheney driving it. We are not dead, but we are very banged up.

Agreed, but lets use something else as examples (left-over moose chili?). Around here coffee grounds and eggshells are called compost. We're urban gardeners and compost is brown gold.

She may be right, but at the same time, Obama will employ people who are professionals and who know what the heck they are doing and talking about. I do not recall a single Press Secretary employed by Bush who was properly trained and informed to give WH briefings

It doesn't matter who the press secretary is if their job is to cover up criimes and misdemeanors then they will have a rough row to hoe. Actually the press suppressed much of the truth about what the Bush gang was doing including the Iraq war.

The outside world was well aware of the Bush lies because they had access to news channels outside of America. Yes the press is to blame as they consider the truth no more than a convenience and will only tell it if they have no other choice.
