Horatio

SNL alum Horatio Sanz has dropped about 100 lbs. New York Magazine saw him on the red carpet of the 8th Annual 24 Hour Plays on Broadway last week and asked him about his drastic change in appearance.

"I've been eating better," he admitted. "I've been trying to come up with a joke about how I've lost weight and I was going to say, 'I stopped putting nuts in my sundaes.'" Apparently, he's lost about 100 pounds. Roughly. "I never weighed myself when I was at my fattest, because I was scared I might die," he said. He's been working out, too.

Below is a photo of Sanz at the event and another of him back in November 2003

The joke could be that he's not eating as much because he isn't getting paid since leaving SNL, lol.

Hope he's not a yo-yoer. That would be bad.

Clearly surgery is not a solution for ALL obese people, but it does help many. Sadly, dieting or just simply "eating right and working out" does not always work. No one thing works for EVERYONE, so it's great that obese people have options. Many formerly obese people have benefited from surgery. Is surgery easy or without risk? No, but neither is staying obese (even if you are eating right and exercising, but not able to lose the weight).

Also, many surgeries are now done laproscopically and therefore the incision is minimal and healing is no more difficult than other surgeries. I have not heard of people lingering with gaping wounds for months. If this is true, then I'd doubt many surgeons would still be performing these surgeries, and for that matter, insurance companies would stop covering it. However, gastric bypass is on the rise in this country and more insurance companies are covering it. Additionally, these surgeries have shown to put diabetes into remission (not just as a result of the weight loss) for many people. As for proper eating, surgery should never be a free license to eat with abandon, since everyone needs to eat healthfully regardless of their size.

I guess he got tired of being confused with Artie Lange.
