Horatio

SNL alum Horatio Sanz has dropped about 100 lbs. New York Magazine saw him on the red carpet of the 8th Annual 24 Hour Plays on Broadway last week and asked him about his drastic change in appearance.

"I've been eating better," he admitted. "I've been trying to come up with a joke about how I've lost weight and I was going to say, 'I stopped putting nuts in my sundaes.'" Apparently, he's lost about 100 pounds. Roughly. "I never weighed myself when I was at my fattest, because I was scared I might die," he said. He's been working out, too.

Below is a photo of Sanz at the event and another of him back in November 2003

John Candy never lost weight because he said he wouldn't be as funny. Look at what happened to him. Live long. You can always be funny. Good work.

He's not so funny anymore because his shtick was mostly based on being fat like a baby and not getting laid. That's funny in a sad way. Now he's not funny, but I'm happy for him.

Your post: definitely not funny.

Your post, not funny, but true. But you know he, more than likely, will be fat again before we've even adjusted to this thin version. I wish him the best regardless.

That's a great result, and underneath there was a handsome guy all along. Now he can work on handsome and funny as hell!

for some reason, he just doesn't look as funny now. But living longer is probably higher on the agenda at this point.

For some reason? You know they made Curly over-eat and shave his head for a reason.
I have a feeling we mostly laughed at Horatio because of what he said. Good job dude!

If he didn't resort to NutriSystem or at worst, gastric bypass surgery, then what he did to lose it was indeed a noteworthy achievement.

At least he didn't try to lie or beat around the bush the way Star Jones did.

Being overweight is not a moral failure. It's a medical condition, moran. The important thing is that he lost the weight and is healthier for it.

As someone who knows first hand the difficulty of overcoming Obesity, good for him!
I am 6'4" tall and was 367 lbs at my heaviest, now I weigh 185 lbs, that is a total loss of 182 lbs.

I have said it many times here at Huffpost, the biggest difference in my diet has been the TOTAL ban of all food made with High Fructose Corn Syrup. That stuff is poison and is slowly killing our nation.
Since the food industry made the switch to HFCS in the 1980's; the incidence of type 2 Diabetes has more than quadrupled as well as the number of Obese Americans.

Thanks to my own efforts and those of people like me we have been making small gains in making food companies stop using HFCS, most recently Oroweat Breads has finally stopped using HFCS in ALL of it's breads.

Good for you . Heck I had a struggle getting from 205 to 185!

Just to clarify what you said about HFCS, it's not really "poison". As I heard a nutritionist say on TV a while back, there's nothing inherently wrong with the stuff - it's literally just sugar and water - but the real problem with it is that it's *dirt cheap*.

Regular "Corn Syrup" is what you say, comparable to sugar and water.
But "High Fructose Corn Syrup" is a wholly different product.
The Corn Processing Industry is mounting a campaign to confuse Americans into thinking that HFCS is made by squeezing the juice out of sweet corn. They take regular Corn Syrup and digest it into Fructose.
Since it is already digested when it is consumed the body does not know how to regulate it's absorption.

I would agree totally about the high fructose corn syrup. I won't drink soda anymore because it is full of the stuff. If I can find soda that is made with sugar instead I consider that a real treat. Even my nine year old is a label reader and knows not to ask for food that contains HFCS. I am so glad to see there are several of us out here talking about this poison that is in so much of our food.

Here in Arizona, close to the border with Mexico, we can buy Coca Cola made in Mexico for a few cents more than the American made crap.
Mexican Coke is still made with Cane Sugar and not HFCS.
If you put them side by side you can really taste the difference, the Mexican Coke is much better tasting and not as sweet as the American made Coke.

Way to go, Horatio!

Look I'm not qualified to judge this, but:
Did Horatio Sanz just become sexy?

And thank god Horatio avoided the
Belushi/Farley pattern:
fat comedian -> drug user -> overdose

Why hasn't Oprah thought of that diet plan yet?

Obesity is worse than smoking, according to recent tests. So much for "fat and beautiful!" Dream on, those in denial..

Good for him!

It seems that no matter how much weight a celebrity loses, the fat jokes never stop. It really p..isses people off when someone they know loses a lot of weight. They want to keep them in their place.

Wow...there was a handsome man waiting to come out! I'm glad he lost the weight because I'd hate to see him end up like John Candy or Chris Farley.

I agree. I totally thought he was going to end up that way when he was on SNL. It's almost like that show has to have at least one overweight, self-destructive person every season. Now I think Artie Lang is probably gonna be the next one to pull a Belushi.

Good for Horatio!

I am also worried for Artie - one of the funniest guys out there. I saw him on Conan a couple of weeks ago and he looked like Michael Moore the day after a big Thanksgiving dinner. I almost didn't recognize him. Take care Artie, we need you.
