David Letterman's "Top 10 List" tonight was Sarah Palin's top ten excuses. The list refers to the unfortunate interview that Palin gave right after she pardoned a turkey for Thanksgiving. As Palin answered questions, a worker right behind her was slaughtering turkeys in a turkey grinder. Palin seemed oblivious to the gruesome events as she continued talking for three minutes. Watch Letterman's top ten excuses Palin gave for the turkey massacre.

RE: "..he old, seems hostile and is soooo over.'

Letterman is typically very sharp and funny. His age seems to have nothing to do with his ability to charm. He's smart. He is on the right side of the issues. He barked at the heels of McCain's egregiously rude cancellation -- with lies -- of his appearance on his show -- those several days of dissing McCain afterwards was fun; he didn't let McCain get away, for a minute or so, anyway, with 'I messed up!' as an excuse (to lie about why he cancelled, then go to another show instead, and out to dinner, during that cancelled show). Being angry, there, was appropriate as an answer to a rude, public cancellation at the last minute. For McCain, by the way, to think 'I messed up!' (said two or three times as Letterman pressed him for a better excuse) is an explanation worthy of a statesman was a sorry display -- typical of a young teenager.

Why do some object to killing turkeys but not abortion?
Very perplexing.

Because a living, independently viable being is not the same thing as a creature whose continued existence depends entirely on someone else.

Amen.

Choosing to have an abortion is a moral and ethical choice, to be sure. But that's up to the moral authority of the mother, whose body is supporting it, and no-one else's.

The setting of the interview was inappropriate. Why would any thinking person, camera person, the one conducting the interview go on with any animal being slaughtered where it could be plainly viewed. A lot of people just happen to find this gruesome. I suppose it would be fine by you to see executions done while an interview with goes on Palin as well.

It's incomprehensible that she would do this. Shocking, but not surprising. Yet it confirms one's suspicions that this woman has a gap where compassion needs to be. (Yes, I know all the turkey sandwiches and Thanksgiving turkeys we eat come from turkeys which have first been killed; but we don't 'pardon a turkey' while its mates are being murdered in the background). Virtually everything she said during the campaign reflected a 'lack-of-compassion' disorder. Her verbal viciousness. Her eliciting of murder threats toward the presidential candidate, Obama. Her lies. Her using of her children, without getting them educational tutors during the time they spent missing school to support her, stand up beside her, hold her baby for her, show the baby to the camera for her; her never being seen looking at her children or putting her arm around them, etc. etc. etc. Her use of Sex and Mom and LittleGirl dissociative-disorder 'alters' like a too-quick-cutting film mix during every speech, all this supports her as a candidate for ridicule -- if not for pity. It is her children who more easily evoke pity, however, not her, because her runaway-train-barrelling-down-at-you approach to stateswomanship makes it hard to find compassion or empathy for someone, a mother, who so much seems to be entirely without those qualities.

Thank you smoothsail, my thoughts exactly.
Democrats are appalled about war and the death penalty, but justify killing fetuses. Killing is killing.

If people are sitting down to a Thanksgiving turkey today, how the hell do you think it got there?
Obama supporters had to find another way to vent their rage, so now it's PDS (Palin Derangement Syndrome).

So then, why do Republicans support the war and death penalty but oppose killing fetuses?

Like you said, killing is killing.

It works both ways, buster.

And how is aborting a fetus any different than removing a tumor?

(This is a trick question. I know you pro-lifers can't answer it without referring to some "holy" book written by some long-dead bearded guy. As opposed to referring to, say, the Declaration of Independence or the U.S. Constitution.)

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:53 PM on 11/27/2008

Democrats are only recently appalled by war. If you look back in history, most of the nation's wars were started by Democratic presidents.

Why do people who want to outlaw abortions oppose birth control, condoms and sex education?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:35 PM on 11/27/2008

That is not a universal concept. This is an argument I used to make in college. Life gets a little deeper after that, if you keep reading and thinking. There are a lot of people who support birth control, etc. In fact, they argue that if you don't use birth control, then you have to pay the price (i.e., keep the kid). I'm pro-choic, so that's not my argument. But I have done work on reproductive freedom for over a decade, and I have heard all types of arguments.

I'm a vegan, and I also support sex ed, planned parenthood and women's right to choose what to do with their bodies. There's nothing perplexing about it at all.

I can't believe they don't blindfold these poor turkeys before they are executed but I understand they do get a visit from a clergyman and family members.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:59 AM on 11/27/2008

Are you against eating turkey for thanksgiving...?
It's hard to eat them without ..well you know..slaughtering them...sorry to disillusion you.
But make sure the one on YOUR table was blindfolded....ha ha ha

Anything that can be done to reduce Sarah Palin to the insignificance that she actually is, in order to make her disappear, is a good thing to do, and is the RIGHT thing to do.

This is a woman whose best line was about hockey moms and pit bulls, and the remainder is roughly yack, yack, GOP talking point, blah, blah, blah, GOP talking point, hate, wink, yack, yack, yack, the media is against me, all I asked for is a Dr. Pepper, I’m very, very pleased to be cleared of any legal wrongdoing, I'll plough through that door, blah, blah, blah, blah.

This woman governs in a state with corrupt government whose population is merely 8x the population of the ZIP CODE that I grew up in.

F***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All the irrational exuberance for her. over what? Over nothing!

....and: Alaska has one of the highest or the highest rates of rape of women in the U.S. -- Why? And why does Palin, as governor of this state, demand that raped women pay over a thousand dollars to get the evidence of their rapes taken seriously? This prevents most women from GETTING rapes taken seriously; could this possibly have something to do with the high incidence of continued raping?

After the election I had heaved a sigh of relief, not only at the outcome of the presidential election, but that the spector of Sarah Palin would not be in the news ANY more. I was sure of that. But I was wrong. So now I find myself getting exercised about her many, many egregious. extremist and anti-women practices in her state alone (never mind her lies and incitements to murder the president-elect her rantings elicited during the campaign). Why, exactly, DOES this woman refuse to prosecute rapists without making victims pay for it?

Your assumption is that rape is being taken seriously in AK. The facts don't seem to support that.
