David Letterman's "Top 10 List" tonight was Sarah Palin's top ten excuses. The list refers to the unfortunate interview that Palin gave right after she pardoned a turkey for Thanksgiving. As Palin answered questions, a worker right behind her was slaughtering turkeys in a turkey grinder. Palin seemed oblivious to the gruesome events as she continued talking for three minutes. Watch Letterman's top ten excuses Palin gave for the turkey massacre.

I really, really do not like that woman. She's dumb as can be. She reads a speech well but can't articulate a sensible thought. How long are we going to have to put up with the media love-fest of Palin?

While I suppose it is accurate to say that some people "hate" Sarah Palin, I think it's more accurate that lots of people were nervous about putting her in charge of a single nuclear weapon, much less 12,000 of them. She's just scary in a lot of her views, which don't come across as very well defined, but strongly held anyhow.

Overseas, back in the 60's and 70's a lot of people thought the citizens of the USA were really the "Beverly Hillbillys" for real, "Green Acres", "Mayberry", "Petticoat Junction", etc.

Even after RayGun was POTUS, lots of people overseas only knew him by the cowboy movies.

There are a lot of people who would agree with SP on a number of things, but not so many who would buy into EVERYTHING SP has running around in her head.

After listening to Sarah over the past few months and reading posts like this, I think finally understand. They are communicating in "Beauty Contestant Speech".
Rules:
1. look pretty or sound cute
2. use terms that you may not completely understand but have heard used before to sound intelligent
3. use key phases that trigger emotional responses to you and will likely help you win
4. smile, sound cheerful
5. fill up the time with as much of these types of statements as possible

They havnt been thrown out of office?.......nope....because they arn't conservatives. But Sarah Palin is on the Front Page and our friend Barney is no where to be seen......i see a bunch of hypocrites.....if you ask me. Sarah Palin is a GOVERNOR.......must of done something right.......meanwhile you are just people chatting on a liberal blog. What are ya jealous?

Wow... I find it soo cavalier that anytime someone picks on poor Sarah, there's always someone out there ready to drape on the cape and rescue her. Its "never" her fault if she doesn't know the answer to a question or stands in the wrong spot during an interview. Its the big bad liberal media's fault for always tryin' to make her look bad. Funny how she went to school all those years so she could BE one of them! (and I forget how many years it took too...)

I've given up on trying to figure out just what it is that makes you righties idolize this woman... But I have figured out why you defend her so fiercely. One of the "traits" you all love so much is how she's "just like one of us with the same values"... So any attack on her stupidity you basically consider an attack on you. And no matter how many screw-ups she makes, you'll continue to ignore & excuse her lack of intellect and defend your fairy tale Barbie. We're all just jealous of her "greatness" right? Cuz she's like the perfect epitome of peoplehood dontcha know?

Besides, we all know the blogs over at Fox say nothing buy sweetness & light about Obama huh...?

Enough of the name calling and other bull. I don't watch Fox news because I think they are biased and unfair. It seems like you might feel the same way about liberal blogs, but here you are, reading and commenting. If you don't like us why not just stay away. Let us get this country back on track and you can go plan your next attempt to ruin a country. Wake up, I know all people on the right aren't ignorant, are they?

Time to take a deep breath NRA4LIFE. You are reading too much into a simple, nightly bit that Letterman is famous for. Sarah seems to enjoy the attention and talked of having fun during the interview. Relax, there is no need to defend Sarah, just enjoy the jokes.

I have several Republican friends who have tried to convince me that the mortgage meltdown was due to "loosening of the rules" that occurred by Democrats in the 90's in order to allow low income people to buy houses. Allow me to explain my take on this. After 9/11 when the economy was in trouble, the interest rate was lowered to such a degree that the interest rate on 30 year mortgages was around 4 percent. As many know, the natural level of a 30 year mortgage interest rate is between 6 and 8 percent. Suddenly, many folks whose credit did not allow them to qualify for a mortgage loan were able to qualify at this 4 percent level - but they were given subprime mortgages in which the interest rate would change with the current interest rate in 4 years. So, 4 years later, these interest rates went variable and the current interest rate was at a more natural 6 percent range. A 2 percent jump in the interest rate is a significant jump, amounting to an increase in almost 50 percent to these people's mortgage payments. And, of course, they were not able to continue paying their mortgage payments. If the problem had been that low income people were given mortgages, why didn't this problem start when they initially got the mortgage, not 4 years later?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:05 PM on 11/26/2008

I couldn't fit my whole comment in one post, so here is the rest: In my opinion, the culprit in all of this are the people working for the banks who knew that the interest rate was at an unnaturally low level and allowed these sub prime mortgages to occur in the first place. I've even read reports of people at these banks who knew this was going to happen and hoped that they could make all of their money and get out before the s__t hit the fan. And, of course, our illustrious government provided no oversight for this sub prime mortgage mess. Now, if you can show me that the Democrats in congress were responsible for allowing low income people to be given sub prime mortgages, I will listen to you. If these people were given fixed rate mortgages instead I don't think the mortgage crisis would have occurred.

With all the positive articles about the election now and Obama Nation filled with so much joy and happiness and glee that might never end I noticed an article about Sarah Palin and thought maybe it was an apology from the media about all the nasty sickening classless things they did to her. Nope........It is another attack on someone who is like so many normal traditional people in this country. I should of expected it. I am on the Huffington Post after all. This country is mostly regular traditional people like me. And it is scary how much hatred the far left idealogue koolaid drinking loons have for regular people like me. People like that are so out of touch. So instead of talking about how much money she spent on her clothes and how stupid she is how about we talk about the sweetheart mortgage deals that Chris Dodd received. Thank goodness we threw all the bums out.......oh wait.......only the republican bums!!!

You must watch Fox – Chris Dodd – responsible for the economic mess? Not quite. Bush, Paulson, SEC head Chris Cox, Senate Banking Chair Richard Shelby (until 2007), and the other GOP appointed “regulators” got us into this mess. When SEC head William Donaldson, appointed by Bush in 2003, started to tighten regulations on Wall St, and started to vote with the two democrats on the commission against the two republican appointees, do you know what Bush did? He fired him. But don’t expect the cretins like O’Reilly or Beck to talk about any of this.
And Palin belongs to the NRA lovers and the other fear mongering groups in this country, those who prefer leaders who are uneducated pinheads, individuals who don’t even read a newspapers, have never been interested in policy issues, but try to impress us with “you betchas” and other folksy crap. The GOP has now cornered the market on rednecks, the ignorant, the uninformed, those who couldn’t find the U.S. on a map of the world.

We had complete coverage of the Palin case in Germany. People over here don't hate her. They are just astonished how an obviously empty suit nearly made it to the vice presidency. I have been to the USA many times, normal traditional people don't look like her. They may have conservative views but I found them friendly and decent. Sarah Palin and her family is more in the direction of what you call white trash. You can be glad her hateful campaign speeches did not cause a riot where people would have gotten hurt. She is very good in wakening the aggressions in the low lifes usually gathering at her meetings. We are happy indeed Obama made it and Palin is a footnote, file under laughing stock.

CologneCitizen...I am still stunned at what McCain and the Repubs tried to do to my beloved America. Putting that woman one heartbeat from the most powerful position in the world.

There is no way anyone could love their country, and put that woman in such an important position. She is a disgrace.

When McCain picked this woman, Palin as his running mate, at first I was mortified, then I took action, I campaigned like hell against him.

I told everyone who would listen, "you owe it to your children, and your children's children to make sure McCain and that awful woman he picked as his running mate never make it to the White House." Thank God, it worked, people came out in droves, to defeat the "nightmare team" of McCain/Palin.

For all of you who have been posting that it is OK to eat turkeys and other animals, please take a moment to look inside a major turkey farm by clicking on this link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBM0NULDYl8

This was filmed only a few days ago at one of the largest turkey producers in the US. Please click on the link and then search your hearts. Its not about what we "can" do or have the "right" to do, but it is about what is we know is correct in the deepest part of ourselves. It is a test of our character to do the right thing when we dont have to. Please, take a moment to watch. Happy Thanksgiving to all sentient beings.

I'm sorry but yes I think it is alright to eat meat. That is not saying I condone animal abuse, neglect and torture. In fact, I would support life sentences for any meat supplier that does not treat the animals in a humane fashion as well as kill them humanely. Just what do you think would happen to all of the animals that presently are in the food chain if people didn't eat meat? Let's start with deer...I love deer and couldn't hurt one if my life depended on it. We all know there is a finite amount of area that any wild animal can occupy, primarily because we humans have destroyed most of their natural habitat. We can either harvest the excess deer and feed people or the deer can die a slow death of starvation and diseases that attack over populated areas. Cattle, pigs and fowl, both domestic and wild serve a purpose and that is to feed people. Our ancestors survived on the flesh of animals. What is missing now is the respect these animals should be given. The all mighty dollar has control and while you will not get my support against eating meat , you will get it to stop the disrespect and torture any animal in the food chain is subjected to.

There are humans dying a slow death of starvation and diseases in Africa and other places -- should we "harvest" them and murder them too?

Your argument that you are somehow doing animals a favor by murdering them makes no sense.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:04 AM on 11/26/2008

It is ordained by God that we rule over the animals. It's anyone's interpretation as to what this means exactly. I believe it means that we can do what we want with any animal as long as it's not cruel or indecent. It's not against the law to take out a gun and shoot your pet dog in the head. Although, you would go to jail for not feeding, torturing, or neglecting your pet. The farmers that cram thousands of livestock for a profitable venture are not guilty of anything other than being a capitalist.

I also don't believe we should jail people for two or three years for animal neglect when we let guys out faster for selling drugs or even killing folks.

The more you knock the greater the Republicans love her. It is not about her. It's about you. You hat Palin or at least disrespect her and almost all of the Republicans love her just because you hate her.In other words the real focus of the hate are the liberals. Obama will have his four years to screw this coutry up even more that the Republicans did and then the Libs will have to own something and I doubt it will be good. I hope that President Obama is very successful for the country's sake. But ther is so much hate on both sides that even the good things that he does will be spun with a negative sense. Politicans in this country do not really want to reach consensus. Winning and rubbing the other party's nose in it is the name of the game.

Oh please spare me the "both sides" BS. The Republican Party insulted the American people by attempting to get such an unqualified person electd to the second highest offce in the land. Republicans promote nothing but hate and devisiveness and lady Sarah, being the "right" kind of white Christian woman that she is , was all too happy to spew the party slime and smears. It seems to me you'd better serve your right wing friends and politicians by lecturing them on how we can all just get along.

How on earth did this woman get elected governor? She cannot complete a sentence. She does not sound very smart. What she says does not make sense at all. I guess she fooled a lot of Alaskans with her babble, on and on, and on. If I were to have a conversation with her she would give me a headache with her incoherent gabble, gabble.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 04:59 PM on 11/25/2008

Well... one reason is that there are not that many voters up in Alaska, so there are fewer people one has to con into voting.

She won Mayor of Wasilla with 650 votes, the loser got 450 votes, or thereabouts.

She won Governor with about 120,000 or so votes.

Those are not big numbers. While the title of Governor sounds impressive, she "rules" in a state with about 650,000 population. Rudy could not use his mayorship of NYC as a qualification for office [meaning that did not help him, going from mayor to POTUS.]

So McCain and Palin saying that "being a Mayor and a Governor" means something might have been true if she was those things in a major city and a state.

Well... you could say it's because Alaska is near the rock bottom for education in America... AND America is one of the least educated industrialized democratic countries... So, you could say she was elected by some of the least educated people in any Democratic society.

Someone below makes a good point about Palin being tone deaf. My wife noticed the same thing when we were watching the clip of her on Countdown last night. Her tone deafness would explain her behavior during the Vice Presidential debate when she didn't acknowledge Biden getting choked up while talking about the deaths in his family. At the time, I chalked it up to a lack of empathy, which may have been the case. At the same time, when you consider that the guy killing the turkey is looking over his shoulder at the camera over and over again, clearly understanding that butchery doesn't make for good television, and Palin is chatting away, you can't help but suspect that she doesn't have the best sense of time and place. This is not a good characteristic for a politician to have.

not just her....what about her staff...surely to god somebody else was there who might have twigged that turkey grinding is not "Must SEE TV"
