Alan Colmes Replacement Poll: Who Should It Be?

Now that Alan Colmes has decided to take his leave of Fox's Hannity And Colmes, who will replace him? Brian Stelter figures that it will be nobody, leaving Sean Hannity to go solo. But hope springs eternal over at Stelter's old stomping grounds, TV Newser. They've got a reader poll up, soliciting responses on possible replacements. Among the choices are the solo option, wooing Harold Ford, Jr. away from CNN, giving Al Franken a thorny place to land if the Minnesota Senate recount doesn't go his way, Susan Estrich (OMG, no, please!), Bob Beckel, and Kirsten Powers. Democratic strategist Peter Feld endorses his "articulate, liberal friend" Powers for the job, saying, "It will be an improvement." Why not? Powers is a columnist for the New York Post and a former contributor to the American Prospect, and is an Alaskan who can speak in complete sentences - even using the final "g" sound in gerunds!

Feld provides this clip of Powers causing Ann Coulter to have an emotional breakdown on the air all without doing anything more than being reasonable and speaking in an unraised voice.

What other within-the-realm-of-possibility personages would you like to see face off against Hannity?

Nobody.
Hannity should be forced to rant alone to an empty studio.
No self respecting progressive should consider sitting down with that clown. The only purpose would be to act the fool for Hannity's benefit.

Perhaps if Hannity were to share his $40M contract 50/50 it might be different but then you better be careful not to be shat upon by a flying pig.

Of course, it should be Rosie O'Donnell.

Now there's "a view!" I'm sure Hannity would threaten to quit if he had to face Rosie. It would be an interesting program and give Rosie an outlet/platform for her opinions. Colms was a real wet dishtowel anyway -never added anything to the mix.

I believe Rosie has come full-circle now and is more comfortable in her skin as a out-person and celebrity with the guts to move the ball forward. It's a shame that a gay man hasn't surfaced yet with the guts and convictions to do the same. She looks great now and knows that she can accomplish more from within that by making everyone so aware that she is an "outsider" with something to say.

He will be remembered for being able to find the only person in Afghanistan with zero power or charisma to APPOINT as President: The one and only one: Hameed Karazai. This is the only President in the world whose secret security service is made up of foreigners. He can't leave his Palace without being shot at. There's also only one Alan Colmes. Like Bob Kennedy Jr said:"his job is to lose every argument possible", in addition to his weird looks it will be hard for Roger Aisles to find a better marketing guy for the Republicans

If the show went off the air it would come back as the Sean Hannity Hour or the Glenn Beck Hour or the Rush Limbaugh Hour or the Laura Inghram Hour, its really a choice that Fox is making between picking a weak liberal sidekick to Hannity and claim they are "fair and balanced" or just have Hannity.

Noticed that once Alan Colmes finally grew a pair this election cycle he was out the door.
