Alan Colmes Replacement Poll: Who Should It Be?

Now that Alan Colmes has decided to take his leave of Fox's Hannity And Colmes, who will replace him? Brian Stelter figures that it will be nobody, leaving Sean Hannity to go solo. But hope springs eternal over at Stelter's old stomping grounds, TV Newser. They've got a reader poll up, soliciting responses on possible replacements. Among the choices are the solo option, wooing Harold Ford, Jr. away from CNN, giving Al Franken a thorny place to land if the Minnesota Senate recount doesn't go his way, Susan Estrich (OMG, no, please!), Bob Beckel, and Kirsten Powers. Democratic strategist Peter Feld endorses his "articulate, liberal friend" Powers for the job, saying, "It will be an improvement." Why not? Powers is a columnist for the New York Post and a former contributor to the American Prospect, and is an Alaskan who can speak in complete sentences - even using the final "g" sound in gerunds!

Feld provides this clip of Powers causing Ann Coulter to have an emotional breakdown on the air all without doing anything more than being reasonable and speaking in an unraised voice.

What other within-the-realm-of-possibility personages would you like to see face off against Hannity?

Fox News is slowly committing suicide. The only time I pay attention to anything Fox is when they surface in the news themselves & it seems they are going all in on destroying Obama before he even has a chance to take office. This is part & parcel of the propoganda we were warned about in 4th grade.
If Fox news doesn't do something to remedy it's format it'll quickly find itself in the same position as freedom's watch. Circling the toilet bowl...

There is a certain hilarious aspect to that clip. When Hannity is interviewing the Dem talking head he consistently interupts him and talks over him. When Powers starts talking and takes the spotlight away from Coulter, Anne is dumbfounded and just keeps talking over what Powers is saying. It is like they can't be bothered to let anyone else speak.

I do like Powers that was a complete pwnage of Coulter.

Powers just talked right over Ann. Look, Coulter is strange enough, but half of the fun with her is to let her speak so she can demonstrate just how far out she is. Talking over someone is easy - Hannity does it everyday, so does O'Reilly. But look at Chris Matthews - he lets someone have ther full say, and they crushes them with it. Look at his Katherine Bachman interview - classic. People yelling over one another is unwatchable.

It's easy. Pull Keith Olbermann away from MSNBC and let him chew up Hannity (an intellectual lightweight) and spit him out in little pieces every night. The FOX ratings would soar! Hannity would have to pull an "Ann Coulter" - as in the clip we just saw - in order to prevent a self-induced meltdown.

I'd even turn on FOX to watch that!
