Alan Colmes Replacement Poll: Who Should It Be?

Now that Alan Colmes has decided to take his leave of Fox's Hannity And Colmes, who will replace him? Brian Stelter figures that it will be nobody, leaving Sean Hannity to go solo. But hope springs eternal over at Stelter's old stomping grounds, TV Newser. They've got a reader poll up, soliciting responses on possible replacements. Among the choices are the solo option, wooing Harold Ford, Jr. away from CNN, giving Al Franken a thorny place to land if the Minnesota Senate recount doesn't go his way, Susan Estrich (OMG, no, please!), Bob Beckel, and Kirsten Powers. Democratic strategist Peter Feld endorses his "articulate, liberal friend" Powers for the job, saying, "It will be an improvement." Why not? Powers is a columnist for the New York Post and a former contributor to the American Prospect, and is an Alaskan who can speak in complete sentences - even using the final "g" sound in gerunds!

Feld provides this clip of Powers causing Ann Coulter to have an emotional breakdown on the air all without doing anything more than being reasonable and speaking in an unraised voice.

What other within-the-realm-of-possibility personages would you like to see face off against Hannity?

That clip is priceless, I LOVE Kirsten Powers and I just love how they just completely ignored Man Coulter with her hissy fit.

I think they should just stop pretending to be fair and balance and just have Sean there, the way he bullies Alan, we would not really see much of a difference.

If they have to replace him, I'd love to see Randi Rhodes, with her political smarts and research prowess, she would make Sean cry every night.

I LOOOVE that clip! The message was so strong that even Ann was able to get it (and inSannity was nowhere to be seen):
"You twit! You obviously have nothing intelligent to contribute to this discussion, so why waste the viewers' time with you?"

You can rest assured that Sean will not allow anyone who is willing to put him in his place. It has long been obvious that its his show, and Alan was just a permanent guest. A liberal with the same aggressive style as Sean would make him think, and he won't do that. I like Alan. Bechtel, and many so called Fox News Analysts, but they lack the gene for "nasty" that Sean has. Let him go it alone and make the show more honest, that is honestly dishonest.

I think Mika would make a great candidate. She has obviously relegated herself to being a cheerleader for Joe Scarborough's rants --that's unless he turns on her. I used to have some respect for her -- but not anymore. Morning Joe is now nothing more than the Fratboy Morning Club and my mornings couldn't have been better for not watching it anymore.

I strongly believe Hannity should go it alone. While I can vaguely stand Hannity and Colmes in very small doses, Hannity's America is beyond unwatchable. It is a level of hackery that should read as comedy if he weren't so smugly self serious.

This is what needs to happen so that Fox's picture of Dorian Gray will finally be out of the basement and hanging front and center in the entrance lobby where it belongs.

Even Murdoch will find his meals hard to finish.
