Wolfson

With Hillary Clinton seemingly locked up for the post of Secretary of State, several Democratic sources have begun speculating that her long-time communications hand, Howard Wolfson, would be brought on board to help with the task.

A seasoned press flack who Clinton implicitly trusts -- and, it should be added, who is more than capable of handling the job of State Department spokesperson -- Wolfson is a naturally good fit. But there is one problem: he has a famous fear of flying (Jason Horowitz of the New York Observer called him "the John Madden of politics.") And to conceivably work in State, air travel is important.

Well, it turns out, Wolfson no longer suffers aviophobia.

The man who had to chauffeur himself across the country during the Democratic primary -- and who, for family vacations, would often drive to the destination while his wife and daughter flew -- now is comfortable traveling via plane. Since the end of the Democratic primary, he tells the Huffington Post, he has flown to Europe on three occasions, twice to the West Coast, to each party's convention, Florida, Boston and (on several occasions) New York City.

"Something just snapped," Wolfson explained to New York Magazine last month, "and I wasn't afraid anymore. It had to do with wanting to get out of the country as soon as possible."

With this hitch hammered out, it is easy to see how Wolfson ends up with the communications spot at State, provided of course that Clinton is actually appointed. But, before going there, he throws a bit of cold water on the theory.

"I'm not sure it's for me in any case," he writes, "but the flying wouldn't be an issue."

Wow three comments and all three banned.

Looks like someone is real strong to push this guy through.

Well let me list three devestating facts about him:

A-He begged for a job on Fox news, which he used to diminish Obama and the DNC

B-He was O'Reilly lapdog on O'Reilly's first attempt to smear Obama and DNC post election.

I will dig up more concrete dirt on him (as I know there are tons, the newsweek expose and the atlantic leaked emails should do it) but folks, hiring him will surely make Hillary SOS run less than two years.

This guy isn't the "Serve the public type" he's the "lets win future elections and political power" guy, he is the guy who will politicize the SOS and put Hillary at odds with Obama.

OTOH, he works for Hillary, we don't have him embarrassing us as Fox news anymore.

Sit back, look at the records and ask yourself, without Mark Penn to compare to, how does Wolfson stack up when compared to hundreds of Dem strategists and staffers?

Is Wolfson the best for the ADMINISTRATION.

Wolfson is 100% Politics all the time, the SOS is not a political position.

The SOS IS A YESMAN JOB, plain and simple, is Wolfson ready to help Hillary be on message 100% of the time?

Dont think so.

(Rupert Murdoch, if you are reading please increase Wolfson's pay so he doesn't leave Fox)

Wolfson should heed to his flying fears and get a job somewhere else. Anywhere else. He was one of the reasons that Hillary lost the nomination. He did not serve her well, and I think it best he not try to serve the American people.

Hell no! I've come to terms with the fact that Hillary will be SOS, but can we pleassse keep Howard Wolfson out of this? That goes for the Mark Penns and several other Clinton staffers too.

This guy is a low life sleaze bag, and again why Hillary as Secretary of State is a terrible choice and shows Obama's short sighted poor judgment mixing cheap politics with American foreign policy at such a dangerous and crucial time...

Our foreign policy and State dept. is going to be one big disaster...

Mark my words...

Wolfson? You have to be kidding me.

Mr. Race-baiter. Mr. Obama can't win because he's AA?

Ditto. The terrible advice of Wolfson and others is a big part of the reason she lost.

Is Hillary going to bring back her entire campaign staff to run the State Department? Will they be as dysfunctional as they were in March? Are they still traumatized PUMAs from getting whupped and looking to get revenge? Just some questions most are already thinking.

I don't mind Hillary at State. In fact, I've warmed up to the idea quite a bit. But must her team of screw-ups follow her in her new position? She was ill-served as a candidate by their incompetence so I hope the nation is spared the same result.
