Bush Drinking Again? Downs "Pisco Sour" In Peru

The Peru news agency Andina notes that President Bush was drinking a Peruvian cocktail during the recent APEC summit:

Peru has successfully promoted its national drink "Pisco Sour" during the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Summit, Peru's Environment Minister Antonio Brack said Sunday.

He noted that the flagship drink of Peru was well acepted by international guests, including Japan's Prime Minister, Taro Aso.

"Pisco Sour has been the "star" of the APEC Summit, the drink was served in several meetings at the Government Palace and the APEC Summit venue," he told CPN Radio.

U.S. President George W. Bush, who quit drinking at 40, was apparently drinking a Peruvian cocktail during a meeting on Saturday.

Pisco Sour is a cocktail containing Pisco (a Peruvian brandy), lemon juice, egg whites, simple syrup, and regional bitters.

Of course, the president often drinks non-alcoholic beer; he could easily be drinking a non-alcoholic Pisco Sour in this shot.

Judging from his extremely poor performance over the last 8 years, it's hard to believe he was ever sober. There have been many times where he was slurring his speech or just not making sense while he was speaking in public. As a drinker myself, I say once a drinker always a drinker. It's not as if he's been hitting any AA meetings during his riegn of terror.

Actually, there are AA meetings in the basement of congress for the boozing politicos, so he may be in attendance at those. The problem is, AA i a religious program, not a medical/science based one, and it often does more harm than good.

Statistics show that people who have drinking problems and remit from them overwhelmingly do so on their own. Most of those who do remit do so by cutting down on drinking, not total cessation. this is convienently ignored by AA and 12-steppers, who will calim the person was never "really" an "alcoholic" or that it is latent and will rise again soon - hogwash.

court-ordered 12-step attendees actually drink more and more those who get no "treatment." The AA ideas of "powerlessness" etc. become an internalized self-fulfilling prophecy.

Point is, regardless of his past, Bush may be having a drink beacuse he can and wants to. The problem is, I'm not sure of Georgie boy is actually hitting it hard, like the tabloids and Capital Hill Blue suggest... and THAT is where there is a problem.

...but just because he WAS a drunk, and is drinking, does not necessarily mean he is back off the wagon and failing at sobriety.

But if I were a betting man, I'd say he is probably boozing behind closed doors!

In my opinion AA seeks to put blame on everyone else except the drinker.
Nothing but a bunch of cry babies trying to lay blame, most of all, on their parents for their own problems.
Half the people at those meetings still drink and half the men at those meetings are ONLY there to hook-up with alcoholic women.
After having to deal with alcoholics my entire life those people disgust me.
I have ZERO tolerance for alcoholics or addicts.

And the situation has gotten worse under bush. The majority of rehab that is still available in this country is both faith and 12 step orientated. And the shrinks involved, do not want to look at alternative therapy. The whole rehab community has put all their eggs in that basket. Even thinking of an alternative scares them.

Another thing that is prevelant concerning rehab is that every one who is a substance abuser of one kind or another has to have been abused during childhood in one way or another.

They just can't believe that normal people with normal and loving childhoods can be substance abusers.

Obviously they need to look at other methods. Right now a person who goes through intensive inpatient therapy and intensive outpatient therapy follow up doesn't have much of a better chance of changing their lifestyle in a positive way and substaining it than people out there on their own.

Drink name probably sounds good in the language it came from but it makes me think of something that sometimes happens when I get a hang nail. Yes it is a very pale shade of yellow green.
