The Peru news agency Andina notes that President Bush was drinking a Peruvian cocktail during the recent APEC summit:

Peru has successfully promoted its national drink "Pisco Sour" during the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Summit, Peru's Environment Minister Antonio Brack said Sunday.

He noted that the flagship drink of Peru was well acepted by international guests, including Japan's Prime Minister, Taro Aso.

"Pisco Sour has been the "star" of the APEC Summit, the drink was served in several meetings at the Government Palace and the APEC Summit venue," he told CPN Radio.

...

U.S. President George W. Bush, who quit drinking at 40, was apparently drinking a Peruvian cocktail during a meeting on Saturday.

Pisco Sour is a cocktail containing Pisco (a Peruvian brandy), lemon juice, egg whites, simple syrup, and regional bitters.

Bush is pictured drinking the cocktail here:

Of course, the president often drinks non-alcoholic beer; he could easily be drinking a non-alcoholic Pisco Sour in this shot.

Remember the choking on pretzel incident? He was drunk and fell on the coffee table. Then they blamed it on a little salty snack.
How pathetic.

You don't know that. Whe you're guessing, admit you're guessing!

Of course she's guessing. Heck, this whole article (and the news cycle in general) seems to be based on pure guesswork.
I guess he's drinking a pico sour...or a virgin pico sour. Stop the presses, print it and worry about the veracity later.

Some classic alcoholic behaviors :

* Serious financial, relationship, and work-related problems
* The development of an alibi system - an elaborate system of excuses for their drinking
* Aggressive and grandiose behavior
* Loss of interests
* Frequent violent or destructive behavior
* An increase in failed promises and resolutions to one's self and to others
* Unreasonable resentments
* Problems with the law (e.g, DUIs)
* Loss of willpower

Remind you of anyone???

A person doesn't needn't be swallowing alcohol to exhibit those behaviors. Obviously the man has not addressed the warpage of his character. I suspect he will deteriorate very quickly once he leaves office.

If I were him and my administration sat back and watched the world crumble, I'd start drinking again too. I'd drink a lot everyday for the rest of my life until I embarrassed myself in public and shattered the little bits of dignity that I had left. Bottoms up George!

You know what? Who freaking cares anymore? Go back to your crappy pretend ranch in Texas and drink yourself into eternal oblivion. We just don't care anymore. Eternal public humiliation is the only thing this guy deserves.

"Bush stopped drinking at 40..."; did you also believe that there were WMD in Iraq and that there was a connection between Al Quaida and Saddam? The man has barely been able to utter a clearly pronounced word or a coherent sentence - even those written for him - in pretty much all of his Presidency!

Stopped drinking at 40?? LOL>..TOOO Funny...about as funny as Bush finding "Jesus"...then he proceeded to put to death more prisoners in Texas than any prior governor...and then of course, going to war under LIES...and lets add to that.."torturing prisoners"..and laughing that the Constitution, as he used it as a "wipe". PLEASE lets drop the idea of Bush quitting being a drunk...we've seen otherwise for the last eight horrible years.

When someone claims to be "born again" after leading a life full of sin, like Dubya, it doesn't that they found religion. It means they discovered that religion can be used as a cover for their problems.

I've rarely met a "born again" who seems to be at peace with himself. You're right, it's a cover.

I think future history books will refer to Bush as drunkard who lacked intellectual curiosity, rode in on his father's coattails, and took the country-- on false pretenses-- into war; devastated a formerly prosperous economy, plunging Americans into financial ruin and homelessness; as well as increasing through his complete lack of fiscal responsibility, the national debt to the highest level in US history. I think the history books will accurately reveal him to be the complete loser that he is. Drinking? He's an egotistical alcoholic not in treatment, and he is actively drinking. It's been obvious by his actions, hasn't it?

Nixon was an alcoholic, Reagan and Clinton had alcoholic fathers, and W is famously a recovering but not treated alcoholic. McCain's old man survived in the Pentagon despite his drinking mostly because of his father's rep. We seem to develop the necessary ambition for his job through family dysfunction. Then there's Barack, whose father was an alcoholic but so missing you wonder if it counts. I'm a drunk too but my old Dad wasn't so I guess that's why I never ran for Prez.

I'm a dry drunk myself, but I do believe this country would have been better off if Bush had stayed drunk during both of his terms. He might not have let cheney run his office and ruin he and his family's name, which wasn't all that great to began with.

GeeDubya was well on his way to ruining the family name long before he became Prez. A perfect example is the deal to buy the Texas Rangers. Bush was to be used as a public relations guy, but the big money wouldn't join the group until they were assured that Bush would have no decision making power. None!
He and his business "acumen" were that well known.

I too am a dry drunk, and while I spoke out loudly against Bush when he was still the governor of Texas, and I hate everything his administration has done and stands for, on a human level I can see why at this point he might just drink again. I would too. I hope he doesn't get carried away with it. I know what it is for booze to just creep up on you and mess you up without any intention of letting it happen.
