The Washington Post profiles Obama transition leader John Podesta -- and his evil twin Skippy.

To fully understand how John Podesta is managing the complex Democratic takeover of the federal government, you have to be familiar with Skippy, the evil twin.

Anyone who has worked for Podesta in the past decade knows Skippy, who first appeared during Podesta's eventful years as chief of staff in the Clinton White House. As scandal rocked the end of that presidency, staffers knew they had better come prepared to meetings. Otherwise, nurturing mentor John would be replaced by Skippy -- Podesta's quick-tempered, edgy and sarcastic alter ego.

"You haven't seen him in this meeting, have you?" the transition co-chairman for Barack Obama says with a laugh, noting that many a reporter has met Skippy.

"I'm half Greek and half Italian, and you would expect that I would have a hot temper," he says in an interview at the downtown transition office, where the tightly wound, wiry operative is building a government. "I like people to perform at a high level." He likens his operating style to a loud, ethnic family dinner. "Sometimes our emotions get expressed, but we all love each other and we all are trying to help each other succeed."

That sentiment is pretty much echoed by those who have worked with and for Podesta over his three decades in Washington -- most of whom are now lining up for jobs. "Let's say my in-box is filled," he says with a wide grin.

Read the whole thing. Read more about Obama's transition.

I think Mr. Podesta should awaken "Skippy" to inform Mrs. Clinton that she has not been selected as Sec of State!!!

The Greek side-- they are all over -achievers and over-performers- they should all be Democrats- never could figure out a Greek Republican--more like an oxymoron to label a Greek "Republican"-- Crist is Greek-- but he has the heart and soul and finely-tuned mind of a Democrat----

Sooo true!!! Crist is an enigma that continues to baffle my political mind!!!

How do you find Crist so perplexing? He blocked ad valorem taxes, which has caused havoc on Municipal balance sheets. So far he has left the state budget with a $2.2 billion dollar deficit, and in line with his Republican credo, refuses to raise taxes or cut spending in order to compensate. He renigged on his promise not to raise college tuition, allowing a yearly increase of 15%. What irked me the most is back during the election rather than stay here and work towards cutting unnecessary funding, and fixing our insurance regulations, he goes off (on tax payer money) to Europe in July on a "business development mission" with his girlfriend, only to come back to Florida with squat. Now as far as environmentalism, he has my partial support, with funding the Everglades restoration deal and sigining order to reduce greenhouse gases, but then supporting offshore drilling to appease McCain during the election. He seems to be a politician, albeit a smart one, but a politician nonetheless.

Back in the day, I went to college with Mr Podesta. Although we weren't close friends, it was a small liberal arts place and everyone was aware of John. There's no doubt in my mind that Skippy came of age at Knox College. Veritas!

I'm pretty sure too that Dr. Robert Seibert, Knox political science professor and good friend, had something to do with Skippy's emergence.

Skippy said, "I like people to perform at a high level." Nothing wrong with that. Taxpayers should expect nothing less from those working in Government.
