CARSON CITY, Nev. — The lieutenant governor of Nevada says the state attorney general's office intends to have him indicted over how he handled a college savings program as state treasurer.

Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki said Monday he believes he is being targeted for political reasons by state Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto.

Krolicki is a Republican who's considering a run against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. Masto is a Democrat. She says she cannot comment.

The 47-year-old Krolicki says Chief Deputy Attorney General Conrad Hafen alerted him to a pending indictment by the Clark County grand jury.

A 2007 audit says budget controls were bypassed in the Nevada College Savings Program. Krolicki says auditors were "simply wrong."

As soon as I saw the headline, I knew the guy was a republican. They seem to break laws that pertain to money.

When I read the headline, I thought it meant "Challenger" as in Majority leader challenger, not for his Senate seat in 2 years. I was trying to figure out why a Republican would be up for that position :-)

Another Republican in legal trouble?

Yeah, thats right, "Auditors are always wrong when they audit Republicans"

The Entire GOP from top to bottom has corruption problems. When you rule everything from local, to state, to federal for a decade, you tend to become criminals when most of your supporters are delusional zealots or big corporate predators.

Don't get mad at Reid. Get active in favor of something. DO it. Get into the kitchen with some work.

And, if he follows the Republican mantra - he'll be just fine if he didn't do anything wrong. Open the books and stand back Mr. Krolicki.

I remember when (RI) stood for Rhode Island, not Republican, indicted.

On the other hand, I remember during my youth in Minnesota when (IR) stood for "Independent Republican". The name was adopted by the Minnesota Republican party after Watergate as an attempt to break with the national party. Too bad the Minnesota Republicans dropped the "Independent" in their name back in 1995. Not that there had been much independence in the state party for some time before that or since then.

Getting the Big Money out of Nevada politics is the real problem. As long as gambling brings in the buck money they will always have someone in there pretending to be Republican or Democrate but only wirking for the Casino's.

This would be good news if Mastro was thinking of running a primary against Reid.

Can anyone remember a Republican attorney indicted someone who WASN'T for politics, but for justice? I cannot.

As much as I want Reid gone, I don't want a repubican to replace him. But I don't think there would be any difference... becauase Reid is useless or simply, just part of the thievery that is going on.

Nany must go too!

Unless you want to stop the nuke repository at Yucca ... transporting high level waste on every major highway in the nation. Ried is only reason it isn't happening RIGHT NOW, while you clowns worry about if he hits Lieberman hard enough.

But never mind those pesky "causes" ... Reid sucks because he doesn't spend his time fighting stupid public ego wars for the loony-left.

who cares. We need a democrat with a spine to take him out in the primary.

Great idea, then we turn Reid into another Lieberman. Don't think for a minute that very many dem senators would support his primary challenger, and would likely push him to run independent

Reid might be spineless, but he does have a conscience and some dignity.

I think Lieberman has had it out to destroy Democrats really since before 2000.

He knew he was wrong for VP, yet forced himself into the spot.

The whole time he just wanted to be pres, regardless of party or ideology.

Bingo. Unfortunately, "Nevada" and "Real Democrat" won't appear in the same sentence for a few more generations.

well...bide awhile. who'd have believed they'd go for Obama? And the Latino vote will continue to increase in significance in Nevada. The whole Southwest is going to have turned over completely in a generation. Now if the dems can just stay on target...

Maybe he's not a "real democrat" - but Reid >gasp< actually represents his constituents very well. But screw that right? Better to replace him with a ideologue ... just like the GOP does!

Great!
