U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman meets with reporters to discuss his plans for fixing the national and state economies at his office in Hartford, Conn., Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008. Striking a more conciliatory tone with President-elect Barack Obama after having criticized him on the campaign trail, Lieberman praised Obama's choices for his Cabinet and he said the way Obama has been conducting himself has been good for the country. HARTFORD, Conn. — Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman took another step Tuesday toward mending his relationship with Democrats, saying that Barack Obama's actions since winning the presidency have been "just about perfect."

"Everything that President-elect Obama has done since election night has been just about perfect, both in terms of a tone and also in terms of the strength of the names that have either been announced or are being discussed to fill his administration," Lieberman said during a visit to Hartford.

Lieberman, the Democratic nominee for vice president in 2000, was re-elected to the Senate in 2006 as an independent but continues to caucus with Democrats. He supported Republican John McCain's presidential campaign, going as far as to criticize Obama and make a speech at the Republican National Convention.

Democrats threatened to strip him of his chairmanship of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs committee but instead removed him as head of a smaller environmental subcommittee.

Connecticut Democrats meet Dec. 17 and are still considering a possible censure of Lieberman for his actions during the presidential campaign.

"I will ask them to judge me by my record," Lieberman said. "Generally speaking, I've had a record, a voting record, which is really ultimately what it's about, not unlike most Democrats."

Lieberman said he believes the rift between himself and the party stemmed mainly from his support of President Bush's policy in Iraq and will close as that becomes less of an issue.

"It appears to me that the war in Iraq is coming to a successful _ I don't want to say conclusion yet, but it's moving in a way that it will not be a divisive issue either in the Democratic Party or between Democrats and Republicans in the time ahead," Lieberman said. "And therefore, I think we'll return to more normal times, which I welcome."

Uh oh, this causes me some pause

I loved all the picks so far (I still hold out hope that Obama picks Dean for something, though).....but if Liebermann likes them that makes me a little concerned

I believe Joe Lieberman KNOWS better then to say anything else negative about our new President.
He is walking on VERY thin ice.
He made the mistake of believing "his friend" John McCain would win and he would then be placed in a nice cushy powerful appointment....where he could smuggly thumb his nose at Democrats. It was and still is "all about Joe Lieberman" and what he and his injured overblown ego feels HE is deserving of.

Washington is just a personal game of power to Lieberman. He believes because HE has done in the past what he was sent BY THE PEOPLE to DC to do in SERVING the people..what he was PAID to do by us, that HE is OWED SPECIAL treatment and ELEVATION.

Typical politician. Kissing rear end when it suits him to do so.

Isn't is customary for the President to pardon a turkey at Thanksgiving? Maybe Joe will get his.

That must have been one hell of a visit to the woodshed for The Liebster! It's a good thing hypocrisy flows like water in D.C. or he would have drowned in his own by now.

Joe the Lemming is about as revelant as Joe the Plumber. When will we be rid of Sarah Six Pack? HuffPo makes it sound like Sarah is having a one-on-one meeting with Obama when in fact he's meeting with the governors, not a governor.

The words are right but coming from Liebermann they only sound hollow and self-serving.
No trust left in anything Joe has to say.

That's because Obama does not value diversity, Obama hates diversity.

Each and every single one of Obama's picks are center right clones.

Just like Lieberman.

Way to go Barrack . It didn't take long for you to make me sorry I bothered to vote . The fix is in , the military industrial complex and the corporate elite got the best man to do there bidding , a wolf in sheeps clothing . Now lets go escalate that other bogus war in Afghanistan while we continue to break our promise about ending the Iraq occupation . As far as any accountability for the Bush regime goes we will simply say that we want to look forward and not backwards . End of story , case closed . Try using that excuse the next time you get a parking ticket " Uh , you're honer , shouldn't we be looking to the future and not rehashing the mistakes of the past . I think the American people don't want us wasting our time playing the blame game when there are so many problems we need to fix '. Nothing short of a revolution will change the status quo and that is the sorry truth.

Wow--you can't even let the guy take office before you start trashing him?

He is, by far, the best man for the job.
