U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman meets with reporters to discuss his plans for fixing the national and state economies at his office in Hartford, Conn., Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008. Striking a more conciliatory tone with President-elect Barack Obama after having criticized him on the campaign trail, Lieberman praised Obama's choices for his Cabinet and he said the way Obama has been conducting himself has been good for the country. HARTFORD, Conn. — Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman took another step Tuesday toward mending his relationship with Democrats, saying that Barack Obama's actions since winning the presidency have been "just about perfect."

"Everything that President-elect Obama has done since election night has been just about perfect, both in terms of a tone and also in terms of the strength of the names that have either been announced or are being discussed to fill his administration," Lieberman said during a visit to Hartford.

Lieberman, the Democratic nominee for vice president in 2000, was re-elected to the Senate in 2006 as an independent but continues to caucus with Democrats. He supported Republican John McCain's presidential campaign, going as far as to criticize Obama and make a speech at the Republican National Convention.

Democrats threatened to strip him of his chairmanship of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs committee but instead removed him as head of a smaller environmental subcommittee.

Connecticut Democrats meet Dec. 17 and are still considering a possible censure of Lieberman for his actions during the presidential campaign.

"I will ask them to judge me by my record," Lieberman said. "Generally speaking, I've had a record, a voting record, which is really ultimately what it's about, not unlike most Democrats."

Lieberman said he believes the rift between himself and the party stemmed mainly from his support of President Bush's policy in Iraq and will close as that becomes less of an issue.

"It appears to me that the war in Iraq is coming to a successful _ I don't want to say conclusion yet, but it's moving in a way that it will not be a divisive issue either in the Democratic Party or between Democrats and Republicans in the time ahead," Lieberman said. "And therefore, I think we'll return to more normal times, which I welcome."

Look, i am NO Lieberman fan by any means.
I think what he did during the campaign - what he said about Barack was horrendous...him speaking at the RNC...on par with being traitorous.
HOWEVER, I think we all need to just get a grip here and think things through rather than just shooting off at the mouth.
That's what a neocon would do.
Relax, count to 10 and let's look at the situation:
We don't know what happened to him to make him do what he did. Perhaps he did it out of selfishness, or perhaps he did feel the dems wronged him in some way. None of us really knows the truth.
NOW, with that being said - if Obama has seen fit to take him under his wing....then I will agree with what Obama does.
NOT because I don't have a mind of my own, but because I trust Obama's judgment. I trust him more than just about any politician that's out there.
If Obama shows Lieberman he has his good faith, then that's all the better for the dems, it means that he'll more likely vote on our side to get things passed.
I know the saying is getting kind of old already, but it really pertains to this situation:
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
We really get no where by all this negativity....time to move on - his BFF lost....he's with the program. Let's ALL get with the program.

Thank you. We have had eight years of sheeple behavior; it should have taught us something.

Well, of course, part of the 'deal' that Joe the Judas got with the Dem's is to come out and "publically" acknowledge that Obama is doing a great job, hence, his comments on Obama's picks for his Cabinet. I'm just hoping Joe the Judas doesn't get off this easy and when it comes to voting he will remember who had his back, so to speak.

And I suppose Lieberman thinks that he should be selected for the post of Director of Homeland Security. (His opinion is worth less than those mortgage backed securities that his friends on Wall St. have been peddling.)

That DHS gavel feels pretty good as a colonic, doesn't it Joe. Better wipe your mouth -it's turning brown, Sen. Lieberman.

Three names added to the list of people I never want to hear from again: mccain, palin, LIE berman....

Perhaps if they could stop for one second insulting the intelligence of Americans by acting like they think we don't recognize quality when we see it (after all, we did elect Obama) - earth to mcpaLIE, you're not even close.

Why do all these nonstatesmen seem to be repukelican or repukelican sympathizers?

If Lieberman likes, it we should all be very worried.

Change was promised, yet it is looking less and less likely.

To permit the fraudmeisters that brought us to the cliff to regain power and line their pockets at the same time is wrong, probably criminal. Rubin, Summers, are architects of the same mindset as Bernanke, Greenspan, and Paulson. None have the best interests of the country in mind. They are engaged a a massive reverse Robin Hood robbery of the National Treasury. While screaming about the evils of socialism they are partaking, but only for elites.

For fifty years single payer health care has been debated and slurred as evil socialism. Then suddenly in about one week a socialized bailout is implemented for the very people that bribed and schemed to change the laws that brought us to this cliff. But only after they took what was left to pay themselves bonuses.

That's politics for you. Remember, bribers and schemers don't waste their money on charity, they give it to politicians. It's the battle of the PACs.
