Mel Gibson Ordered To Talk About "Passion" Filming

LOS ANGELES — A judge says Mel Gibson will have to answer questions about planning and filming "The Passion of the Christ" in response to a screenwriter's lawsuit.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Gregory Alarcon on Tuesday ordered Gibson to appear for a deposition by mid-January. Gibson's attorneys had tried to keep him from having to answer questions regarding his blockbuster film about Jesus' last hours.

Screenwriter Benedict Fitzgerald is suing Gibson, claiming he was underpaid for his work on "Passion."

Fitzgerald's attorneys claimed Tuesday that his payments were eroded by Gibson's spending habits while filming the movie in Italy, including "tens of thousands" of dollars on his children's education and a $78,000 chiropractor bill.

People should not misrepresent their personal opinion that MG is a bigot as an established fact. It's a wrongful assumption. You would have to believe people are never unfair, or that drunk people are never unfair, to consider such an occurrence proof that a person is a bigot and that itself is a biased, unrealistic portrayal of reality. This was also a once in a lifetime occurrence that shouldn't be falsely portrayed as the opposite – as a characteristic trait. Facts are the fabric reality is made of, when people have to twist them to make a point, not only do they not have a point, they have cast doubt on either their own motives or their ability to think in a balanced way.
More and more people, fans and 'non'-fans alike, are increasingly alarmed by the amount of hatred and callous condescension coming MG's way. Contrary to MG, who misbehaved only once and apologized more than once, these people attack MG continually and show no remorse. The time that we are willing to take these continual attacks based on this one time incident seriously is over, it is beginning to look a lot like hatred and bigotry itself. One thing is clear, regardless of whether MG is a bigot or not, many of those attacking him are at least themselves infected with the disease they accuse him of having: A hateful attitude with no respect for or interest in balancing facts and emotions.

It does not matter whether he was drunk or sober, when he spoke the words he said, they are out there and cannot be taken back. All apologies were simply a spin effort.

Sorry, but Mel Gibson lost all my respect and I will never watch any of his movies ever again.

And I was a huge fan of his movies. I did not just get rid of all the movies of his I owned by giving them to a thrift store, I destroyed them.

I do not know when people like Gibson, Costner and Meg Ryan will get that how they live their lives can make or break a star. And these three destroyed any respect that the film goers ever had for them.

Prejudice and hatred are worrisome phenomenon, whoever indulges in them, whoever its victims are. Especially those who claim to be (warning) against a person because they suppose he is hateful and prejudiced should not engage in such mentalities themselves. It puts their own motives and personality in a questionable light - it makes one doubt if THEY can be trusted.

Wasn't that the movie meant to inflame anti-Jewish passion with its scenes of catholic pornography (i.e., torture), the movie Gibson boasted for years would be in Aramaic without subtitles, for which he pussed-out at the last minute and added them. I used to think that all the protests about that movie were just examples of people being overly sensitive. Then I saw some clips from it in a movie called "The God Who Wasn't There". I think you are right to call it pornography. The amount and depiction of the sadism and torture are amazing. I couldn't even watch the clips. I can't imagine how anyone could sit through the movie. Now that you've brought that subject up, I have a comment to make.

I've been watching Entourage and they say the character of Ari Gold is based on super-agent Ari Emanuel.

Ari Emanuel was the one who decried Gibson's drunken comments the loudest and called for a Hollywood boycott of Gibson so he couldn't work any more.

But take a look at Entourage. In every single show, Ari Gold makes foul and demeaning sexist and homophobic comments to his female and gay business partners and employees -- while he is on the job, alert and completely sober.

If Ari Gold is really based on Ari Emanuel -- then Ari Emanuel is ten times worse than Mel Gibson when it comes to speech one would normally classify as hate speech.

At least Gibson did his hate speech when he was drunk. Ari Gold is foul and abusive and sexist and even on occasion borderline anti-Semitic as part of his normal working behavior on the job every day.

So now I have to wonder -- just how much does Ari Gold tell us about Ari Emanuel?
