Rumsfeld's Snow Job: Revises War Failures In Op-Ed

Donald Rumsfeld is writing his memoirs, and if his op-ed in the Nov. 23 New York Times is any preview, it should be a classic of self-serving revisionism.

On the surface, the former defense secretary's piece seems to be a warning--sound, if unoriginal--that merely sending more troops to Afghanistan won't fix that country's problems or win the war.

But his real intent is clearly to justify his own policies on the war in Iraq, to refute the (properly) widespread idea that he committed serious errors, and even more to deny that he held the views that he actually did hold.

Rummy is following the program. I would advise everyone to read comments and writingsof every neo-con war monger. From Kristol to Pearl , Cheney etc. Everyone has a new story. The new story doesn't jive with facts. We know facts aren't relevat to this crew.

Rumsfeld and the entire warmongering bunch should be sent to Iraq....
the entire Bush Administration should be put in an Iraqi jail cell.

Is it true that there are countries in Europe that are prepared to arrest and try this swine as a war criminal? If so, would it not be a public service for someone to keep an eye out for any travel plans he may have so that we can warn, say the Germans, that he is coming their way? It would be poetic justice if he could suffer rendition for instance.

He's fighting a uphill battle, so he's probably wise to start early.

I knew Rumsfraud would erase the truth and transform his time with Bush into a fairytale. I just knew it. Colin Powell needs to write a book and tell all about the infighting that led up to the Iraqi war between himself, Rumsfraud and Cheney.

Despite his incredibly cogent remarks on MTP explaining his endorsement of Barack Obama, General Powell remains silent on the covert agendas of the Bush administration. That also would include the near-singleminded nepotism of views and the incompetence that permeated throughout, starting at the top with Bush and Rumsfield.
Until General Powell is willing to "come clean", I hope his appearance on MTP in late October is the last we see or hear of him. There is nothing else he can do to repair his image. I am afraid the respect he has for his military training (a "good soldier" to the end) will not allow him to do it.

If you think Rumsfield will have revisionist historical memoirs, you just wait till George W. Bush's memoirs come out. That is why no one is interested right now in publishing anything from him. The critics and historians will tear it apart.
And who would want to read fictional memoirs from a man who freely admitted reading was not one of his strong suits?

Memoirs? Memoirs? Bush couldn't even remember EVER making ANY faulty decisions[when asked by a reporter if he had any regrets.]

I know. Bush is LYING and the American MSM is, as usual, buying it.
He should be called "Bush 2003" until he gets his
cranial "marbles" in order & faces all of the death
and destruction of his regime.

I sincerely hope European countries will name
Bush and the others as WAR CRIMINALS and take action.

Last September,Rumsfeld was named as a visiting fellow for one year at the Hoover Institute,a postion shared by others such as Newt Gingrich and George Schultz. An outcry of protese was lodged by numerous professors and students and Stanford, for allowing a war criminal to be alloed on campus with no input from the faculty and students. His one year is up-time to get the cash flowing.PLEASE avail yourselves of at least one of these links.

This guy did such a great job that he deserves a stay at the exclusive Guantanamo Hotel. There he'll be able to enjoy the fruits of his labor. I think the whole Bush team, including the chump himself, need to spend some time there so they can reflect on their contributions to the world.

We still have recorded media to keep history correct no matter what he writes.

Were I this arrogant, war-mongering criminal, I'd be laying very low. But he's too arrogant to do that.

sorry - you were egotistical, incompetent and your legacy will show that the IRAQ war mess was mostly your fault. (along with Wolfowitz, Bremer and the whole gang who couldn't shoot straight)

Nothing you can do about it now...the best thing you could do Rummy is apologize. over and over again until your last breath.

This shameless liar needs to go on trial for war crimes. Does he have the gall to think the nation will forgive him?

Thanks for the reader's digest version of his article - I saw it in Sunday's NYT; read the first line and decided that was enough if I wanted to keep from hurling my breakfast.
