If they have the right guy (I hope they do) then the perp should spend the rest of his days in a very small cell. To invade another's home to rob them is horrible enough, but to beat that person to death is to steal from them their most precious possession - their life.

A post on Arkansas Blog - http://www.arktimes.com/blogs/arkansasblog/ - says Vance was a suspect in a recent rape in Marianna (his home town), and the Marianna police tipped the Little Rock police about a possible connection. DNA was requested and obtained from Vance and matched DNA taken from the victim's mouth (they think she bit him).

I'm glad that they found the suspect also. One thing I hope they are sure about the DNA. They were not for sure who used her credit card, because the surveillance camera was not clear enough to identify the person. This man robbed this young lady because he figured that she had money after playing a role in "W". Now this should tell us that "W" is voo-doo to us all, because we are in a bad shape with the economy.

Now there's something to be thankful for.

And another thing: I am struck by the fact that a number of commenters, upon seeing that the alleged perp is black, immediately concluded there was NO political overtone. Racism, perhaps?

Racism, naivete, ignorance...you name it. This guy is A suspect. Let the investigation continue.

I am so relived that they found a suspect in this case. That some stranger can come into your home and kill you is truly a frightening thought! Criminals are not the brightest! The fact that he remained in the area isn't surprising nor that he recently used her ATM card. I don't believe in the death penalty, but it is acts such as these that make me waver.

Local news sources report "Sources have said previously that the police have DNA evidence that could help identify a suspect in the case. The host of the "Most Wanted" TV program that aired a segment on the case has been quoted elsewhere as saying sources had told him Pressly had been sexually assaulted. She was severely beaten and never regained consciousness." The police spokesman interviewed the night of the arrest cited a solid case with DNA evidence.

I do not think the guy is a "usual suspect". The police in this case have been very circumspect and per their own comments had assistance from the state crime lab and police in the suspect's home town.

The media is going to pull the plug on this story in a big hurry!

Why? Pull the thread on that one please.

Am I being cynical if I don't necessarily trust the police to get this right?

Yeah - you are being cynical. And you probably believe he was framed because you don't want to think he did it for personal reasons.

Yea and OJ Simpson was as innocent as a new born babe, good grief.

According to the judicial system, he was not guilty of murder. Good grief.

Imagine that - a black man - found NOT GUILTY.

Well, we can't have that. Are you happy now - he's going to jail?

You should be open minded. There are too many men being released from prison DECADES LATER after being exonerated by DNA evidence. My family is filled with police officers. I know first hand they can make mistakes. Let the process play out before rushing to judgement.

The suspect is black. He doesn't have a history of violent crimes. They arrested him at home with his GF and children in the same town as the victim. It's been a long time since the crime and this is the FIRST suspect they have? Meanwhile the police aren't releasing anything showing why he's being held as a suspect.

This smells like complete utter BS. No attempts to cover his tracks and he remains in the same town?

How horrible her murder must be for her family. Its always terrible to lose a loved one, but this crime is so very much worse than, say, a car crash.

I hope they got the right guy.
