Anderson Cooper (In A Swimsuit) Races Michael Phelps (VIDEO)

On this Sunday's 60 Minutes, Anderson Cooper has an interview with Olympic hero Michael Phelps.

During the interview, Cooper challenged Phelps to a race, with a few conditions to try and even out the playing field.

Phelps had to swim underwater, with no breathing, and could only use his legs. Cooper also got to dive in while Phelps could only push off the wall.

Plus, Phelps has not really been training since the games and is, for him, sort of out of shape.

So who won?

Anderson's got excellent form in both his dive and freestyle--and some good speed for a guy his age.

No wonder he couldn't resist the urge to show off a bit.

Kinda shows some ignorance of swimming. Cooper did well to stay within a couple of body lengths. Having Phelps go "underwater" and "no breathing" is not really much of a handicap for Phelps. Phelps underwater for 25 yards no breathing is a fairly fast scenario for him. To give some context for my opinion, note that the backstroke is done mostly underwater because it is faster to swim dolphin kick underwater than on top of the water using the rules of the stroke. It would have probably been more fair if they had made Phelps do breaststroke kick only using a kick board (no arms) vs. a normal human doing freestyle. Cooper might have had a chance, but he would probably lose, especially if they lengthened the race a little.

Yes, but under contract with 60 Minutes for a certain number of special reports. This must have been 60 Minutes sympathy card to the anti-Prop 8 crowd in California!

What I found amazing is that Cooper's hair never went out of shape, even when soaking wet.

Either someone rushed in to recomb it or that is some amazing holding spray.
