George Bush

New York Times:

The Labor Department is racing to complete a new rule, strenuously opposed by President-elect Barack Obama, that would make it much harder for the government to regulate toxic substances and hazardous chemicals to which workers are exposed on the job.

The rule, which has strong support from business groups, says that in assessing the risk from a particular substance, federal agencies should gather and analyze "industry-by-industry evidence" of employees' exposure to it during their working lives. The proposal would, in many cases, add a step to the lengthy process of developing standards to protect workers' health.

Geez...you'd think that enough innocent people have died because of the Bush adminstration's actions.
But, I guess as long as there is a buck left to be made, what difference does a few more lives make?

This is the neo-con legacy - if we can't have America, then nobody can have it!
Rape, plunder, foul the air, poison the water and everyone gets a pardon.

That sums it up pretty well. Nuclear waste belongs close to where ever Bush ends up.

Talk about sick! This guy nauseates me. But I can get no justice for that, seeing that those who are being condemned by the stroke of his pen and his signing statement are certainly getting no justice.

The one way to stop this travesty is to IMPEACH NOW! PLEEEEEEZE! FOR ALL OUR SAKES!

Bush just continues to prove he is not interested in the workers of our country who have to put up with substandard health threatening conditions in order to earn a paycheck.

How long do we as Americans have to put up with a President and the GOP party that simply does not care about the people. We are just pawns in their grand scheme of things it seems. Give to the rich and let the rest eat cake!

January 20th can not come soon enough!!!!!

Understandably, the wealthy and upper middle class continue to vote Republican, for they have a vested financial interest in perpetuating an economic system which ignores most working class citizens.

It is the majority of the electorate in the South and plains states who bewilder me. Why would anyone vote for Republicans when they have demonstrated consistently that they do not care for the health and safety of wage earners?

Although Obama won this time, just remember that about fifty percent of the electorate thought enough of Bush to re-elect him in 2004. There are sufficient number of unenlightened Americans to provide hope for future Republicans. .....and we wonder why other nations regard us as ignorant.

I have asked my republican peers (middle and lower-middle class workers) to help me understand their support for Bush/McCain-Palin. It was a sincere inquiry as I wanted to know what I was missing in the republican message. These are people I know and like. Not a single one gave an informed response and most of them considered Fox their news source. Some were influenced by their church, believing the republicans are the party of family values (and democrats lack family values), and others simply followed the vote of their wealthy superiors, believing they somehow knew best, without any independent research. It was disturbing to realize that not one of my republican-voting friends and co-workers had any interest in what has gone on for the past eight years and not one offered an informed basis for their vote nor could they be swayed. I do not casually stereotype people, but this was my experience.

Yes, and that's the problem for the USA. Essentially, the rational adults have to try to progress the nation with the gigantic boat anchor that you've described chained to them. Naturally, they can only do so in fits and starts.

Meanwhile, the nation is looted and polluted at top speed by the Republicans and their "Base" (isn't it interesting that that's bin Laden's nomenclature also). And the suckers who vote for them are fleeced and depressed right along with the rest of Americans.

Of course GW Bush is still under orders, and hasn't got the foggiest idea what he's doing.

These days, Bush's face looks like the country feels.
He's hardly recognizable as the same guy who took office 8 years ago.
Same goes for America.

Treason, absolutely.

Like EVERYTHING else with Bush, he inverted his oath of office every moment he's been in power.

I've had the same thought. I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop...some event (likely orchestrated) where bush can invoke his 'marshall law' rule he set up. I'm not really a conspiracy nut..honest!...but I cannot shake this feeling.
