George Bush

New York Times:

The Labor Department is racing to complete a new rule, strenuously opposed by President-elect Barack Obama, that would make it much harder for the government to regulate toxic substances and hazardous chemicals to which workers are exposed on the job.

The rule, which has strong support from business groups, says that in assessing the risk from a particular substance, federal agencies should gather and analyze "industry-by-industry evidence" of employees' exposure to it during their working lives. The proposal would, in many cases, add a step to the lengthy process of developing standards to protect workers' health.

This man has no heart! The so called love for Christ has resulted into loving big corportation, money and power more. It's not what you say but is the things you do says about. SATAN is George W. Bush!!

He is nothing but a "Christian" poser. If you want to talk about Jesus, how about you consider what he said--A good tree will not bear bad fruit, nor will a bad tree bear good. No surprise here. He is a POSER, just like all the other HATER so called Jesus lovers who claim they are all holier than thou while they condone b0mbing innocents for their money making w@r machines.

Those who READ their Bible KNOW this man has been a poser from the start.

Curious to see what Barack Hussein Obama would do to handle this sensitive situation ?!?

He is going to issue an excecutive order right at the beginning of his term voiding as many of Bush's resolutions as possible. Those that cannot be so voided will be done away with as soon as feasible.

Very progressive of you to rant on and on in your criticism of our President. Let's compare his eight years in office to Bill Clinton. Eight years of no major international conflict --- The first foreign attack on US soil in over fifty years... An economy stimulated by the technology bubbly --- an economy over inflated by the tech bubble... and finally, a democratic congress that passed legislation enabling the sub-prime market --- having to deal with the collapse of the housing bubble and the worst financial crisis since the great depression.

There is no question that George W. Bush is no FDR, but it is unfair to pinpoint him as the cause for every problem America faces today. His decision to invade Iraq had widespread support at the time and many democrats pushed for easier lending practices to help more people own homes.

Your mindless criticism does nothing but widen the divide in our country.

You’re kidding! Do you remember the run up to the war? The intelligence was fabricated, false, fake. Those who supported the war certainly deserve criticism, but following the extraordinary shock of the terrorist attack on the United States, Americans were intentionally misled with false intelligence to believe Iraq was an immediate threat to our national security. The Bush administration capitalized on American's fear to invade a sovereign nation that didn't have any role in 9-11 nor did it pose a threat to the U.S.

Here ya go –Bush and the sub-prime debacle.

You do realize that the intelligent that lead to the "belief that Iraq was an immediate threat to our national security" came from the democratic presidency of Bill Clinton?

It's not the criticism that is mindless, it's the outgoing president whose policies have been mindless. As to the "divide" in our country, it feels like the country is more united than it has been for a long time--something the last 8 years of one disaster after another have achieved. There certainly have been enablers on both sides of the aisle, but Republicans and their primitive ideology (and arrogance) are mostly to blame.

Blue, you ask what happened to the Labour Party over here...

It turned into the Sta.lin party. If you guys think your gov't has stomped all over your rights and liberties, you should live here. We have been having our phone calls and emails monitored for over a year without knowing it, it broke in the papers about two months ago. All in the name of figh.tii ng ter.ror', of course!

Local councils can monitor our phones calls on the slightest evidence even of fly-tipping. Yes!
Giving local councils the kind of power they have been given by Labour, encourages vendetta activity, i.e. some guy on the local council can't stand you personally, so he uses these powers to get you in trouble. It is in.sane. Like the way the old Soviet Union used to be, neighbor sp.ying on neighbor, at the bequest of the state.

And this is only a small part of what has happened to our privacy, our liberty, etc. Wait until they get the new super database up and running. It will have on it the personal details of every man, woman and child in the UK. (And the details will be sto.len just like they have been sto.len on about 12 other databases, some military in nature. This gov't either cannot or will not protect these databases, some are even kept on laptops! Stolen from cabs and train stations.)

We are done for over here.

Yes, an Obama is what is needed here. They don't call Brown 'Stalin' for nothing.

I heard a Labour minister one time defending the fly-tipping thing, when asked what on earth the gov't knowing whether someone is doing it has to do with fi.ghting ter.ror, say that suspected ter.rorists often du.mp things in other people's trashcans when they think they are going to be ra.ided. My G.od, how du.mb do they think we are? They want to know who is fly-tipping so they can fine him! It's not about ter.rorism, it's about money.

I don't know why they just don't set up cameras over every trashcan in England, they have cameras everywhere else! (We are supposed to have more surveillance cameras than any country on this side of the pond). Our every move is monitored nowadays, they even know where our cars are (when we are on the road) every moment.

And say something against a mu.slim, either in an email or on the phone, and you are liekly to get a visit from a police officer. Whereas the mus.lims can say almost anything about us, including that it is right to mu.rder Brits in the name of A.l.l.a.h., and nothing happens...unless the public starts shouting about it (and thre.atens to vote Tory next time around).

it's a shame that labor over there came to that. i had hoped they were done with stupidity when neil kinnock was sent packing. he looks almost statesman like now.

i'm really shocked that the british people are standing for this. england has always been much more inventive and radical about getting rid of those who would trample all over them, and there seems to have been a vigorous anti-w a r movement there. even a very hush-hush court case that literally put the legality of the iraq disaster on trial when an RAF officer refused to redeploy on the grounds that the w a r was in fact illegal, and therefore he was not bound to obey illegal orders.

the british have never been c0wards when it comes to dealing with violence. they've had the I R A to deal with for so long and it hasn't slowed them down. why now? what's crawled up their collective backsides? do you think it might have anything to do with the fact that the pasture for former PM's seems to be the carlysle group?

Much of it is from our handing over the running of our country to the EU....which monitors EVERYTHING. It is because it does that the Brits demanded a referendum on our going with the EU treaty. But Brown, knowing we would say NO, as the Irish did, deprived us of that referendum and slinked off to sign the EU treaty in private. His lowest moment. He is ha.ted for that and ought to be.

(Angela Merkel of Germany is just as bad. If there is a referendum and she doesn't like the result, she either ignores it as if it never happened (as with the Irish one) or says the people (in whichever EU country it is) must do it over. She is what some call a soft co.mm.unist, caring nothing for democracy but making democratic 'noises' to make it look as if she does.)

You have no idea, peace, it is the end of this country. As for why the Brits don't stand up to it, I think they are just tired and worn down, to the point of gru.dging complacency. That sometimes happens when you get leaders that br.ow.b.e.at their people.

One of the main defects of the British sytem of government is that it does not have a written constitution with a written Bill of Rights. Nor does it have a truly independent Supreme Court. That makes it even easier for the government to erode the rights of the individual than in the U.S.. On the other hand the Bush administrations did a pretty effective job of eroding our rights in spite of that.

Hopefully President Obama can pull a d!ckish Bush-like move after being inaugurated and do something like close the USGPO making it impossible for Bush's midnight lawmaking to appear in the Federal Register and therefore becoming law.
