Listening to roosting chickens isn't a healthy habit, RJ.

World leaders must be so relieved to see that the President-elect can actually think and reason.

We all know how this is going to end. India and Pakistan will continue being peaceful, albeit very reluctant neighbors, so long as we give them money and sell them guns. That's the way it is. That's the way it's always been, since back when the British Empire ruled the subcontinent with a stick and carrot, paying tribute to Maharajahs in exchange for loyalty to the crown.

It's about religion... and the gross incompetence of our Congress in checking the proliferation of nuclear weapons.

Why does Obama need to keep saying there is only one President at a time? Why, because he is our nation's leader in fact. duh.

Heres what he means: There is only one President at a time but since he wont do his job I guess I'll have to. But keep in mind I really dont start until January 20

Yeah, it seems like a long time to wait between admins. I wonder why it takes so long?

Russia had their new admin in place within weeks. Sarkozy took over from Chirac in 10 days. It would have been the same whether opposition or not.

It's our system that the President-elect has to wait until January 20. It used to be March 20. I really think that once the Electoral College meets, that a new President should be sworn in then and not wait until January 20. We don't need that much time because the election and January 20 anymore. Give the new President-elect a month to get his people together and then become President.

It owuld be nice too if our election system wasn't so long. If, say, we had six months and not years to run for President. We get so tired of wall-to-wall elections.

it's a very very dangerous time to be standing on custom and tradition.

Bush is clearly awol in terms of anything besides relaxing environmental rules and giving out pardons to his criminal friends.

Two columnists, one was Friedman, asked last Sunday for Cheney to resign, then Bush, and for Pelosi to turn it over to O.

Why hasnt a bigger deal been made out of this?

It is the only solution.

There is way too much going on to have a potted plant in the Oval Office.

This is what I wrote on CNN, because so many in the U.S. are clueless when it comes to terrorism. This cannot be won by fire power alone. "
It's obvious that people like JoeinNJ haven't a clue about the thought process of the oppressed. Your strategy of killing all terrorists is about as realistic as killing all gang members -- IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN. The only way to stop terrorism is the same way you stop gang bangers - give them MORE TO LOSE by engaging in that activity. When folks have no hope and NOTHING TO LOSE, there is no way you can curb their behavior. Joe, you probably think that the US has no fault in this. Just like you probably believe that the U.S. didn't breed the environment that makes gang banging a viable alternative. All I can say to you is. 1. read (I suggest starting with Slavery by Another Name) and 2. travel (I suggest a developing nation). Then you will see that we have to clean up our act before we can expect terrorism to go away. "

"When folks have nothing to Lose, there is no way you can curb their behavior"

This is an excellent point, that is difficult for fortunate people, such as ourselves, to understand.

The Catholic priests' issue with Obama really isn't about abortion. That's a cover much like calling him a muslim was for McCain-Palin supporters. It's really about race. Obama has stated his stance on abortion repeatedly and they seize on that to condemn all who supported him. But we all know the Church's record with blacks isn't too copacetic. A black President must be giving them hives. Even Billy Graham has refused to speak to Obama because of his "bitter and cling" comments. If that poorly spoken but truthful sentiment makes a longtime public minister act like that petulant, I doubt mere words are really the problem.

The Catholic church is clinging onto abortion issue and yet, for possibly centuries kept silent about boys and girls being abused by their priests...they should concentrate on fixing their reputation and practices as God's people we can believe in!

I think this is a smart move because if India dont let rational heads prevail and investigate this before they start the blame game we may have a confrontation with Pakistan that will spill off into the Obama adminstration. Its interesting he wasnt going to speak to the Prime minister preferring instead to let Bush do so according to some of these pundits but I guess things changed. Obama is between a rock and a hard place on this issue and also the economy if he doesnt take a leadership role it could spill over into his administration but role he takes has to be on the periphery. But I think he is doing the best he can under the circumstances. Bush is suppose to speak today I pray that he remember he will gone in two months and speak in such a way that preserve some semblance of his legacy.
