Winona Ryder Investigated Over Missing Diamond Bracelet: Report

Winona Ryder has been accused of losing £81,000 of diamonds loaned to her for a fashion awards ceremony.

The actress, who was convicted of shoplifting in 2001, was given a diamond encrusted bracelet and ring to wear to a Marie Claire magazine party.

Miss Ryder reported the items missing after she allegedly handed them to staff at her Madrid hotel for safekeeping.

But according to the French magazine Voici, hotel management insist they have no surveillance footage showing her handing over the jewels. Executives at Bulgari, which owns the diamonds, apparently called in the police.

And we believe them because they insist? I've had stuff stolen right out of my hotel nice Euro room before and the management there could give a crap. It's possible the hotel staff took it. Maybe not, but I'm just saying, people caved to temptation over less.

I've always thought that Ryder is a terrific actress. If she has a problem then she should be treated for it, but let's not try her in the tabloid press. If she hadn't had that unfortunate shoplifting episode a few years back, would this have even come up?

It is possible that this poor girl may have simply have done a bad job of taking care of the jewelry. She obviously has some serious problems and drugs are just one of them.

I always thought that "free Winona" stuff was stupid. If she was an anonymous woman, they would have thrown the book at her.
