Politico:

Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) swore Sunday that if voters in Tuesday's runoff election against Democrat Jim Martin resemble the same group that showed up on November 4 "we'll win again."

Chambliss, who fell just short of winning 50 percent of the vote triggering an automatic runoff, said on "Fox News Sunday" that he is good shape headed into Tuesday.

I saw Saxby Chambliss' interview on Fox News Sunday. I almost choked on my breakfast when I heard him say that he actually got most of the African-American vote on November 4th. That's funny. Its not even revisionist history as much as its unimpeachable insanity. I mean, Sen. Chambliss, who famously race-baited this year and employed xenophobia against Max Cleland, got more blacks votes than Jim Martin? Wow.

I went to college in Atlanta. Know people all over the city. Familiar with Obama's ground game because I have friends actually working for Sen. Obama. And everyone know that Saxby is a really bad guy.

I mined the internet last week for e-mail addresses. And, I just sent out 10,000 e-mails to people in GA this past Saturday about how Martin would be great for the state, and how he can work with Obama to create an economically constructive future for ALL Georgians...we just can't have Chambliss back.

Slight error in the "distinguished gentleman's" quote - strike "turnout" and replace with "turncoat".

More importantly, Chambliss has reached out to Diebold, who according to sworn testimony of former Diebold employees, engineered his "come from behind" victory six years ago.

The ads for Chambliss sponsored by the Republicans are the most ridiculous pack of lies I've ever seen in my life. They completely contradict Martin's actual voting record.

If there's one thing that this election has proved, it's that Republicans will lie to other Republicans without a second's hesitation. It's pathetic that the sheep so enjoy being gulled.

I wonder if the blacks in Georgia are buying his bs this time around?
I hope that they are not buying it, not intimidated by his party and if they so choose, vote his behind out of office. They have the power, now for them to learn how to use it.

It isn't the blacks. They are still a minority here, so even though they vote largely as a Democratic bloc, the majority always votes for the conservative, good ol' boy types. This is the land that Sherman scorched, (and boy, do I mean scorched) and they still haven't quite gotten over it. In Atlanta, race is largely no big deal. People have migrated in from all over the country, world even, so transformation has taken place. But in the suburban and rural areas, believe it or not, there is still seething resentment for what Sherman did back in 1864-65.

The good news is that the people here who have hung on to that resentment haven't been able to pass it on to the last couple of generations successfully, so as the people of this culture who are in their twenties and thirties mature, and older folks die off, the institutional racism and regionalism that has existed for so long here will finally cease to exist. I hope so, anyway.

There is also a lesson about "shock and awe" in this.

Interestingly, none of them were around during 1865, but they act like they were. They remind blacks they never held slaves so they shouldn't receive any blame for the institution, but they don't mind reaping the benefits from it.

If he regarded or disregarded Max Clellan the veteran that lost both legs and an arm in the war, as he dodged the draft according to the article, what do you think he feels or cares about others, such as African Americans? Answer; Zip, nada! He never appears until election time folks, then he wants votes. Everybody sees through this and few are impressed with him. We all here in Iowa hope he loses his bid!! We need those 60 Seats.

This guy must be joking thinking the African American vote is coming out for him. I don't know if he's been watching the news lately but we're all looking for CHANGE not old fools who want to continue the same old GOP ways.

Hit the bricks and get to steppin Chambliss. Change is coming to Georgia too!

Couldn't agree with your statements more. This man is not an ally or even concened with
AA in GA. He is all for himself, and a Go.o.d. Ol' Bo.y--- We are all hoping he loses and loses BIG!

If Saxby Chambliss is elected, Georgia should be ashamed. Of course, they elected him after what he did to Max Cleland so I guess they lack a sense of shame.

Discrimination is alive and well in the deep south, it just went underground. They no longer say
n------r rigged, They now call it afro-engineered, but it still means the samething.

I live here in GA and you can ask anyone; there is no racism here anymore( ;-) ). Boy, if you suggest to anyone here that race was in any way a factor in GA's vote for McMain, you get excoriated. Things have come a long, long way in my 59 years, but there's still a long way to go.

BTW, check out this anti-Chambliss ad being circulated here. Saxby's karma coming full-circle:

Um I live in Georgia, Atlanta specifically and racism is alive and well here. Maybe it is a generational thing, but race is still a factor in this state.
