Think Progress:

To mark World AIDS Day, Saddelback Pastor Rick Warren is hosting a Civil Forum on Global Health at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. Warren will present President Bush with the first "International Medal of PEACE" from the Global PEACE Coalition in recognition of his unprecedented contribution to the fight against HIV/AIDS and other diseases. The "International Medal of PEACE" is given for outstanding contribution toward alleviating the five global giants recognized by the Coalition, including pandemic diseases, extreme poverty, illiteracy, self-centered leadership and spiritual emptiness. The Bush administration reports that its AIDS initiative helped treat two million people living with HIV/AIDS.

This absolutely tops the oxymoron factor over Al Gore, toady of the military industrial world getting the Peace Prize for a book about pollution that can't be taught in schools because it uses the word 'truth' in the title but isn't. It knocked that bit of hilarity right out of the #1 spot without even breaking a sweat.

The "self-centered leadership" alone should have disqualified him.
I'm sure he's killed many people in Iraq than his AIDS programs has saved in Africa. Besides, his support for it was smoke and mirrors:

"But David Bryden of the Global AIDS Alliance, a frequent critic of the administration, says the president is playing tricks with the numbers. True, Bush is calling for $30 billion for the next five years, and that's twice as much as the president asked for in 2003. But Congress is already funding the global AIDS plan at that level, Bryden said."

He was clueless about a hurricane that destroyed a city in his own back yard, now he's conquering AIDS around the world........who believes that sh*t.

The words PEACE and BUSH do not belong in the same sentence.

You beat me to it. Obviously, they are using a really limited interpretation of the word "peace".

Say what? The first Internation Medal of Peace, for GWB? You must be kidding. This country has been fighting two wars for how long. How many innocent men (non combatant), women and children have been killed as a result of these wars. Any Warren gives GWB the First International Peace Award. Wow, I will be so glad when the next 50 days go by, it will be a relief to be rid of the worst president in the history of this country and I hope they go by much faster than my nearly two years of being unemployed.

This man and his friends just make me more sick day after day. A "peace" medal? Really? Pastor Warren, you have lost your mind.
