Chicago Police Put Mobile Strike Force Unit On The Streets
The scandal plagued SOS unit, or Special Operations Section of the Chicago Police Department has been up and running again all this month under a new name.
The new "Mobile Strike Force" replaces the SOS unit which rushed to gang hotspots around the city to get illegal guns, drugs, and money. But the SOS unit was disbanded after guns, drugs and money started showing up in the officer's pockets. In resurrecting the concept Police Superintendent Jody Weis said the aggressive group took a lot of weapons off the street. But attorney Craig Futterman says the group's tactics are short-sighted.
