I love Madonna. She is so cool. She makes getting older fun. Don't let all those nasty remarks about you getting older, get to you. You are the one and only "Madonna". And I don't care what anyone says:

Swept Away was a great movie! I miss her and Guy together. They made a cute couple.

Someone who must be seen live is Patti Labelle. It doesn't come through on the records, but her shows are awesome.

I am just a few days older than Madonna. God, I wish I looked that great. Her music isn't my cup of tea ( I did like "Beautiful Stranger"),but I do respect her talent. And she's done a great job of staying in shape. If the Allman Bothers and the Grateful Dead and other "old" rockers can keep going, why can't she?

Madonna is the shot! I saw her show in Philly a couple weeks ago and although it wasn't the best show I've seen, it was definitely up there. Like A Prayer was amazing. People were going crazy when she did that song and Yolanda Adams came out and killed it! It was awesome!

The best show ever is held by His Royal Badness, Prince. I doubt that it can get any better than that for me.

I'm more into classic rock, but I've seen her in concert and it was damn entertaining. Can you imagine how much Queen could be pulling in on the reunion circuit with Freddie Mercury?

Ahh Freddie had it didn't he? There are only a few artists who ever could enthrall 100,000 people at one time. Madonna is certainly one of them. Freddie Mercury was another. They are in a league of their own( no pun intended).

I feel sorry, really do, for those who make nasty comments about her.

Say what you will, but Madonna is a shrewd businesswomen and no one can deny her that - you don't last 20 years in one of the most fickle business because you lack skill and talent.

Exactly. Not only is she the best businesswoman in the biz but she does have oodles of skill and talent. She is a world class songwriter( both lyrics and music), world class entertainer and skilled singer. Some mentioned the David Foster interview. He goes in depth into why her voice is so underrated. He mentions her interpretations of lyrics is second to none and her voice is rich, supple, deep, emotive and distinct. He classifies her as a medium voiced mezzo soprano.

To last in the pop music world for 26 years being on top for every one of them( her current CD is the 6th best selling of the year), she have to have not only a great business sense but great skill and talent.

I can visit my Grandma for free so why pay to see Madonna?

The old comments are getting, well, old. Really. No one cares how old she is. Its not an insult. Rather a sad commentary on those who think it is an insult.

But how much did it cost?

PT Barnum was right - there is a smuck-er born every minute and Madge has reaped the benefits of this. Why? I'll never understand!

Try this. She is talented. She is entertaining. She has great music. That is more than enough. If she isn't you cup of tea, no problem. But she has been around way too long, had way too many great songs for this to be a fluke. Time to admit, like the critic for the New York Times did recently, that he was wrong about her in the beginning and was too stubborn to admit it until now.

Agreed - I don't understand the unwarranted nastiness. I get that her music isn't going to thrill everyone, and I don't recall that she's ever claimed she's musical genius, but I'd think that in this age of lazy and spoiled singers/stars, whose talent is much more questionable than Madonna's, that people would at least respect her unmatched work ethic.

Also, I'll happily admit to shelling out the $400 a ticket for myself and my girlfriend to see her tour here in Denver. And guess what? Best $800 I've ever spent, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Everyone that I know who went here, even just very casual fans who happened to luck into last minute tickets, said it was hands down the best show they'd ever seen.

I really cannot recall even one song of hers IMO I would consider "good" that "SHE" actually wrote - not shared credit. However, different strokes for different folks and no harm no foul if that's how you want to spend your cash. She exhibits more OCD than phenomenal work ethic, particularly if you know anyone who's in a band for the love of music rather than money and attention. To each his/her own.

You rock Madonna!

Billboard has confirmed her tour is going to bank, at minimum, $282 million making it the most sucessful tour by any solo artist male or female.

I saw David Foster giving an interview this weekend where he talks about what a true musical talent Madonna is. How she understands every detail about music, melody, notes and is one of the few artists who truly earns producer credit. She said she is a gifted song writer and very underrated vocally. He then played a spanish version of her song "You'll See" with her singing it in the studio live, not effects on her voice. She did it in one take and he said he was impressed. She sounded great.

The headline is a typo. It was supposed to read
"Madonna tour grosses out 91.5 million"

I was no Madge fan until I saw Truth Or Dare. She is rock and roll in that she knows how to put out a show. How many of you are going to dis Tina Turner for heading onstage (how old is she? nearly 70?)? Difference? Big legged and black vs. skinny and white?

How many "stars" are out there willing to take the huge time to tour? Does Beyonce tour at all? Britney? Could she put a band together?

Madonna has never stopped working at it, and for that, I salute her.

Good post. I saw Tina Turner on DirectTV in Amsterdam. She was great. She and Madonna give their money's worth in shows. Both of them are troupers.

She does put on a great show. No one puts on a concert like Madonna. She blends a traditional rock concert with theater. And she give 110% every night. My cousin saw her in Houston. They had close to 50,000, sold out. The show was sold out in minutes of going on sale. LiveNation said they could have done 2 or 3 Houston shows easy IN A STADIUM no less. Most acts can't even sell out small arena's for 1 night much less a stadium.

Her South America shows are going to be insane. Brazil, Argentina and Chile are multiple stadium sell outs. 250,000 in Brazil, 250,00 in Argentina and 110, 000 in Chile!
