Palin

A new Zogby poll shows that despite her divisiveness and the anger directed her way by Republican campaign aides after the election, Sarah Palin is still Republicans' preferred 2012 candidate:

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is the slight favorite of Republican voters as the best candidate the party could run for President in 2012. When all voters are asked that questions, Palin falls into a three-way tie with Mitt Romney and Bobby Jindal.

...

Palin's strength is with all conservatives, conservative religious voters and gun owners. Among Republicans, she gets the support of 30% of Born-Again Christians, 32% of weekly churchgoers, 34% of National Rifle Association members, 28% of current gun owners and 29% of self-identified conservatives. More GOP support comes from 32% of blue collar workers, 30% who shop weekly at Wal-Mart, 28% of NASCAR fans and 25% of both those with children under 17 and those with family members in the military. She scores lower among GOP voters ages 18-29, with 15%.

Twenty-four percent of Republican respondents chose Palin, compared with eighteen percent for Romney and sixteen percent for Jindal. When all voters were polled, each candidate took about thirteen percent of respondents.

The poll also finds that Mike Huckabee will have a hard time beating Palin among the base:

Palin looks to be stealing Huckabee's thunder among Republican religious conservatives and working class voters. Huckabee is an ordained Southern Baptist minister, and his highest GOP totals still come from Born-Again Christians (15%) and weekly churchgoers (18%), but those numbers are about half of those drawn by Palin. Despite his populist economic message, he wins only 10% of blue collar Republicans.

Yeah, right. The VP probably. Right now the GOP is running around the country trying to find a person of color like Jindal in LA to be their nominee so they can finally attract SOME people of color.

Just think - in 4 and 8 years from now, a lot of those old folks who just would never bring themselves to vote for a b l a c k man probably won't be around to vote.

So, where will Palin go to get replacements for this loss in her base?

All I can say is "Bring her on!".

She turned many Repubs off and they voted for Obama - even Repub legislators!!

Sarah Palin - the gift that will keep on giving until the end of time!!

By the way, does anybody here watch "Boston Legal"?

They have done a fantastic job of incorporating the election (and especially Palin) in their shows. It is comical to watch!!

I think Palin is good news for Democrats, but what on earth does this poll say about the Republican base? I find this poll to be frightening. It's frightening that there are so many brainwashed, non-thinking, happy-to-be-ignorant people in this country.

The Zogby pollsters need to get a life. With the next election four years away, Palin has ample opportunity to step in dog sheet 1000 more times. Besides, the American public has the attention span of a five year old with ADD.

It is so sad to think that Republicans go for the "barbie doll" looks versus the substance of what the candidate has to offer. Sarah Palin cannot hold a candle to Hillary Clinton, Janet Napolitano or their other TRUE PEERS! Ms. Palin is "in a league of her own" in that she is the female version of George W. Bush -- if the script does not tell her what to say, she cannot say it! We don't have time to wait for her to "get back to 'ya on that one"!
As a Democrat, I am overjoyed about Barack Hussein Obama winning the election and if Sarah Palin is the GOP's candidate for 2012, I will be happy to see him win a second term by another popular (vote) and electoral (vote) landslide!

We can only hope so - another loss would put her out of national politics forever.

This is sobering---- to think that any significant portion of our population would be enthused about her becoming president. No wonder we are in such dire straights and this does not auger well for our future. A significant % of us want to live in some tv/movie fantasy.

Well, as least we won't have to be concerned about a REPUB being president next term.
