Rush Limbaugh Endorses Hillary Clinton: "Brilliant Stroke" For Secretary Of State

NEW YORK — Rush Limbaugh has seldom been a fan of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. But the conservative radio pundit has given his blessing to her selection as the next secretary of state.

He calls it "a brilliant stroke" by President-elect Barack Obama, who opposed Clinton for the Democratic nomination.

Limbaugh weighs in on the new administration as one of Barbara Walters' "10 Most Fascinating People of 2008," which airs Thursday on ABC.

Says Limbaugh: "You know the old phrase, 'You keep your friends close and your enemies closer?' How can she run for president in 2012? She'd have to run against the incumbent and be critical of him _ the one who made her secretary of state."

On Monday, Obama announced Clinton as his nominee for secretary of state.

Hillary unfortunately probably does not have enough money left to waste on another campaign. What was said during the campaign was just tactical rhetoric. At the end of the day they are all friends

Rush has endorsed Hillary because her foreign policy has been right in line with the neo-cons. He would not have endorsed her if she were the "liberal" her critics say she is. Hillary's corporate connections, her history of voting the way Wachovia wanted her to vote, and the Bush/Liebe­rman/Hilla­ry Middle-East doctrine is what gets people like Rush, Kissinger et al to gush over her appointment. Obama showed incredible political weakness by making a deal with Hillary when he didn't have to. He's proving himself too terrified to use the political power the voters gave him.

Spot on, but I truly believe this deal was made during the primaries. I think Hillary demanded this post in return for conceding her delegates. Clintons NEVER do anything out the kindness of their hearts. There's always an advantage for them somewhere out of the bargain. Hillary could have wreaked a lot of havoc during the general election if she had chosen to remain a viable, write-in candidate. I can see NO other reason why PE Obama would be bothered with her.
