Gary Coleman Pleads No Contest To Disorderly Conduct

SALT LAKE CITY — Gary Coleman has pleaded no contest to a disorderly conduct charge stemming from a September incident at a bowling alley.

The 40-year-old former star of "Diff'rent Strokes" was ordered to pay a $100 fine in a Payson court Tuesday. He also pleaded no contest to a reckless driving charge, which will be waived if he doesn't have any other violations within a year.

According to court documents, Coleman, his wife and his bodyguard were going bowling in Payson, about 60 miles south of Salt Lake City, when Colt Rushton took a few photos of Coleman with his cell phone camera and took a few more of Coleman's truck in the parking lot. Rushton's lawyer says Coleman's wife took Rushton's cell phone, a scuffle ensued and then Coleman ran into Rushton with his truck as he was backing out of the parking lot.

Its sad to see this charming performer, who brought us all so much joy, fall to this low. I recently saw him on tv's divorce court - just heartbreaking. All he ever wanted to do is to make people smile and laugh... I wish he would get a job as a tinkerer perhaps, or some other type of skilled laborer... he could move away from the cities, maybe move up north somewhere, someplace far away from the humiliations and insults of this petty world. Maybe the North Pole?

I've thought that it was enjoyable hanging with the people who read Huff Po because most people here seemed a little more enlightened; not obviously prejudiced. Probably everyone in these comments would be appalled and have a great deal to say about it if the comments posted here with such mean spirited-ness were posted on a white supremacist sight with people of color as the object of the scorn. Are we just like the people we've been fighting so hard to beat---only the objects of our prejudice have a different face and form than the ones that trigger the other racist pigs?

Gary Coleman is a little man - in stature and in beliefs. If anybody remembers when he ran for CA governor during our recall - his views were to the extreme - and he was serious!
