Washington Post:

When Deborah Lawrence got the invitation from the White House, the Seattle-based artist decided to make a lefty political statement.

But she never expected it would hang on the official Christmas tree.

Laura Bush asked members of Congress to pick local painters to decorate ornaments for this year's 20-foot Fraser fir in the Blue Room. The globes (to be unveiled by the first lady tomorrow) are supposed to showcase something special about each congressional district. Washington state's Rep. Jim McDermott contacted a local arts organization, which asked Lawrence, a collage artist, to create the local entry.

Perhaps they could have decorated the tree with the photographs of US soldiers lost in Iraq and Afghanistan. That would have been moving and patriotic.

But maybe it would be more appropriate for Easter, as it would be about sacrifice, a concept with which the Bushes are unfamiliar.

Do you mean the soldiers that passed in Iraq, AFTER SH was caught, tried, convicted, and ...
The ones that Bu$h will not allow pics of. The new line is : we were there to take out SH. Can't explain those that passed after that happened.

George W. keeps telling everyone that he believes history will vindicate him.

I think that self-delusion helps George sleep better at night.

But there is another group of people that should not be sleeping well at night if they have any remaining conscious: Those that ignored the millions of us that called for Impeachment beginning with the Bush Administration's efforts to lie us into the war in Iraq.

Instead, they went with the go along to get along folly that then gave us U.S. sponsored torture, domestic spying, and a shocking refusal to enforce laws and engage in any meaningful oversight that gave us plague after plague from tainted meat and lead in our children's toys to the current economic collapse and ongoing rape and pillage of our treasury and financial futures.

We worked to give the DEMs control of Congress in 2006. Still no impeachment, no accountability, and just more of the same.

FYI: We can't ignore lawlessness in our government in hopes that it will just go away. It won't. And if you keep doing the same things the same things keep happening.

Bush should have been impeached.

Ignoring his crimes is condoning them, and will simply encourage similar future misconduct in our government.

You've said this so well, I wouldn't presume to add to it. And I agree whole-heartedly!

Divisive politics are inappropriate on the White House Christmas tree. In the White House it is appropriate to undermine the U.S. Constitution, plan illegal torture, rape and pillage the financial system plunging the entire world into a depression, plan the murder of hundreds of thousands and who knows what else. But an anti administration, pro-labor Christmas ball is inappropriate.

"...Apparently, they didn't read it ..."

Reminds me of the time the Pope inviting frank Zappa to play at a concert. Frank said, "I guess he's never heard "Catholic Girls!"

My main question, why is there a CHRISTMAS TREE on GOVERNMENT property?

Ever hear of "Seperation of Church and State?" If religious items cannot be hung on some local court room why should it be allowed in one of the most important buildings in our government? If it's in the private residence of the White House, fine, but then it should stay PRIVATE! Put your own family decorations up, like the rest of us. (And empty beer cans don't count , ya lush!)

A christmas tree is not "religious". It is merely symbolic...think of it as a winter solstice ornament.

They don't read our important things such as "Bin Laden determined to strike inside the U.S." so why would they read a Christmas ornament?

Oh my....isn't she clever. Childish garbage like this is why the Left has been marginalized for so many years.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:31 PM on 12/02/2008

Let me see, what is the childish part?

Honoring her congressman for supporting impeachment hearings?
Honoring the sacrifices made by union workers during the 1919 labor strike?
Honoring the womens' suffrage movement?
Honoring protesters who are against the WTO?

What is childish about that? Oh, I see, put Santa Claus on it and it wouldn't be childish garbage. Yes, the White House tree is no place for historical or political remembrances.

Writing support of impeachment on an ornament for the white house christmas tree is childish and immature. Your point?

Pity that free speech is now considered childish.

.........so marginalized that they may take a super majority in the Senate. Perhaps it's time for you to wake up, or at least take the blinders off.

I'm a democrat, genius. This kind of "too cute by half" stuff is what sinks the party and you ignore that history at your peril.

Bush wont care. He does what he wants. And remember. Jeb is forming a shadow gov to trip up Obama and who knows what else. Usually shadow govs are for take overs and not approved of by countries, like the US. But you know how that goes. If Bush does it, its ok.

I had similar thoughts... Make them commercially- or at least a smaller version of them. I bet they'd really sell. Maybe donate a bit to charity.

The bush administration's official ornament cannot be hung on the White House Christmas tree. Why? Because, it's a wreckingball.........................

This is pretty cool.

But I would have waited until after the WH visit to tell the world. That is going to be one tension-filled trip for the artist.

I admire Pelosi and Feinstein but I MUST DISAGREE with them regarding the following in a Feinstein email:

"I believe we are at a point in time where partisan politics and divisions within our country must come to an end. Our financial institutions are suffering. Our economy is in crisis and we are also at war in the Middle East. I believe that impeachment proceedings against President Bush will only divide the country even further, frustrating our hopes for a meaningful change in direction, while having little chance of success."

The Bush Administration must be prosecuted for what it has done. The excuse that it will interfere with the progressive agenda is wrong-headed thinking.

If we are weak and ignore the MONESTROUS WRONG-DOINGS we are demeaning all AMERICANS and giving the wrong signal that doing wrong is OK if you are either RICH OR POWERFUL.

This is Especially True since Jeb Bush says the Republicans should form a SHADOW GOVERNMENT.

Definition: A shadow government is a "government-in-waiting" that remains in waiting with the intention of taking control of a government in response to some event.

This is Treason and the Republicans will not stop breaking the LAW unless they are prosecuted for violating the LAW(s).

There is a reason you don't prosecute someone who has the power to pardon. It would be a useless, futile waste. Better to prosecute them after Obama takes ofice.

As for the "shadow government" - please don't start down the conspiracy road on this. Bush is simply stating his belief that the republicans can somehow organize to the point that, should they regain power, they can make a swift and efficient transfer and hit the ground running. It is not treason - treason would be the act of overthrowing the legitimate govenrment (or an attempt at same) to install the shadow government. Do you really think that's going to happen?

FACT: Cheney had the evidence that WMDs existed in Iraq manufactured and this is a irrefutable FACT. Bush-Cheney-Rove all know this, as do the American People. "Curve-Ball" is part of the History of this and the mere name, "Curve-Ball", tells the story. Curve-Ball was a man who was willing to lie to get out of Iraq to live in Germany. He was the only source with no other corroboration available. Of course, there is also the intelligence agent who told them there was no evidence of WMDs and his wife’s identity as an agent was leaked.

This week Bush said in a interview on ABC with Charley Gibson, that he regrets that the WMD information was wrong.

The way I read that is that he is sorry that they did not find WMDs to substantiate what Cheney’s manufactured document said.

So basically Bush is simply sorry there were no WMDs and has no remorse about the Iraq War which lost 4,200+ soldiers and lost hundreds of thousands of Iraqis. Bush is giving even more evidence that the document for the Iraq war was manufactured and “Faked.”

As usual Rove is having to spin the "miss-speak" of Bush to keep them all from doing time.

In order to make one, you will have to go to "collage" making school. It is like art school, and not to be confused with "college", but it is taught at your local Hobby Lobby.
