Katie Couric Debuts New, Shorter Haircut On "CBS Evening News"

"CBS Evening News" anchor Katie Couric debuted a new, shorter haircut Monday night — and before you even start wondering whether it's sexist to report on Couric's hair, read this: our coverage of Chris Matthews' hair from earlier this year.

Previously, Couric's hair could best be described as shoulder-length, while the new pixie cut just hits neck level.

Katie has always looked professional and is a professional. This cut makes her look mannish. Why do people always want "professional" women to look like a man. That is so old school from the 80's. Women can be attractive, feminine, intelligent and powerful. It seems people who are insecure always want women to button up, cut off their hair.and become celibate. i wonder if the CBS powers that be, made her do it.

It makes her look ten years older than she is. The longer version is better for her facial structure.

Age is catching up to Katie. Oftentimes men get more attractive as they age, whereas women generally don't. Time isn't on her side as is obvious in your photo retrospective.

I like it. She tends to come across as "cute" and I think the new do cuts back on that.

I like Katie's new do. It is more fitting for her age and is a more professional look. I stopped watching CBS evening news when she came on board as I thought she carried too much of the morning ambiance to the presentation. Since a tweak toward the more serious side and her revealing interview with Gov. Palin I now usually watch her in the evening and kind of hope see holds onto her position there. I refuse to watch the pompous, condescending Brian Williams on NBC.

So with you regarding Brian Williams. Gibson not a whole lot better. I've watched Katie on CBS from the get go. I remember how tough she was in interviews, even in her Today days---like a terrier on a mail man's cuff, in a perky way. No matter what anyone says, she got to the real Sara Palin when her male counter parts failed. Thank God. I don't give a fig what she does with her hair.

One thing that helped was that Palin (while screaming sexism if anyone said "Boo!" to HER) thought Couric would be "easier" on her because they were both women. How wrong she was!

Brian Williams was easy on Palin when he did the McCain-Palin interviews. When she spoke she was allowed to just prattle on -- no tough questions, nothing that might stretch her brain cells -- or make them explode!

Her left eye looks different, not so much in the photo above, but I noticed it on the news last night and tonight. It blinked a lot and the eyebrow looked higher than usual. . . what could be seen of it when the half bang moved a bit.

I wonder if she had an eye lift. I hope it's my imagination, as I would hate to see her go the way of the once gorgeous Priscilla Presley.

I'm with you - I think she had something done (although unsure if an eyelift) and got the haircut so no one would pay attention to the little details.

I think Katie has already had work done, but you may be right that she's had something new done. Lots of women get new hairdos at the same time to trick the eye away from the work.
