"CBS Evening News" anchor Katie Couric debuted a new, shorter haircut Monday night — and before you even start wondering whether it's sexist to report on Couric's hair, read this: our coverage of Chris Matthews' hair from earlier this year.

I'm not worrying about whether it's sexist, I'm worried about the fact that it's completely not news worthy and irrelevant to anyone other than perhaps her husband.
What is the point of reporting on this ? Millions of people get haircuts every day, both men and women. I have never in my life seen a news story about these people, how they had to make an appointment, make the tedious journey to the salon, worry about whether the new look would be right. It's certainly an crucial human drama that the press has sadly overlooked.
Why don't you media and celebrity addicts wake up and look around. The country is a disaster, there are wars, killing of innocents and human suffering all over the planet, yet you find time to write a story about Couric's haircut ?! She's not even a celebrity. She is a news anchor ! The media should only be the story if it's relevant, as for instance their COMPLICITY in playing along with the Bush Administration's march to war in Iraq.
So I say again. Wake the f@ck up and ask yourselves how this bit of piercing reporting has improved our national consciousness. Read the 1st Amendment a few times and try to understand the immensity of your responsibility are "reporters", and ask yourselves if this story even approaches something that is in the public interest !
