I Like ItI Don’t Like It

As Obama was leaving Philadelphia, kids from Friends Select, a Quaker school across the street from his hotel, gathered at the gates.

An agent stood near the kids, who after about 15 minutes of waiting started chanting "Obama! Obama!"

When he came out of the hotel Obama crossed the street wearing a big grin. He shook hands and chatted with the kids for about a minute, smiling the whole time.

The kids jumped up and down and cheered. He shook a few hands through the bars of the gate.

Watch:

Absolutely. It's a wonderful sound that never annoys me.

Hey, there's hope for the future after all. Kids actually care! (I'm not being too sarcastic; I did care as a kid, and if Clinton had ever come to my school, I would have been excited, but I would have been in a deep minority)

If Clinton had come to your school it would have been to scout interns.

Looking at this gives me the idea that with Pres. Obama, we are finally headed in the right direction. Out of the mouth of babes, and all that...

Wow! I don't ever recall the sight of little children screaming and cheering or stretching past each other to shake the hand of a President. Precious!

I met him too and I felt like jumping up and down myself! My teenage son was thrilled to shake his hand too.
God bless him.

Here is George Bush scaring a little league player.

It's very funny.

Kids are a lot smarter than we think. They can sense these things.

I'm an adult of 37 and Bush SCARES ME.

So cute. Trust me, when I was that age I could've cared less if Reagan approached me and a bunch of my classmates. I just love how kids these days are so enthusiastic about our PE.

Trust me, I'd jump up and down and cheer if I got to see Obama in person, and I'm 43 years old. What an amazing time we live in, eh. Kind of makes you put it all into perspective.

Really sweet! The kids know what's up! So many adults have their minds too clouded by experience, cynicism and fear to see clearly.

I'm fairly new to the sight and I love reading your posts. It's good to know that I can go on line where people are thoughtful and friendly without such nastiness. Yes, I'm so proud of our PE too, but we must really support this guy for his sake and ours. He's getting ready to be handed the keys to hell (thanks alot, Bush) and its going to take all of us to help the USA get through this. He is likely to be bogged down so much that much of what he wants to do will move slowly, but America is at its greatest when we pull together in a crisis. Let us all remember that we rise, or fall, together!

I agree. I like huffingtonpost.com because the majority of its content and its commenters come from the left side of politics. Its nice to have a place to communicate with like minded individuals. Daily Kos sometimes gets too intense for me. They can get crazy. Except for during Primary season, the discussion is pretty civil and agreeable. eeekkk thinking back to the primaries here on huffpo gives me the willies. lol

And beware the main stream media that is still by and large Right wing controlled. How will they respond towards Obama during the inevitable ups and downs?

I don't remember kids ever cheering for a president. Well, at least not like this. The kids' excitement is so genuine. President-Elect Obama is the best!

Don't recall the bused in kids for palin/mcain huh.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:56 AM on 12/03/2008

Hahahha - that was hilarious. I can't believe McCain bused in those 4000 kids. I think those kids at the rally were cheering because they were just happy to be out of school.

That was more like rent-a-crowd, actually rent-a-kid. Only difference is they weren't paid to scream and cheer for McCain and Palin. They cheered because they were just happy to be out out school.

Yes I recall, but the facial expressions showed a disconnect, not like the expressions here of joy, excitement.
