Kids See Obama, Go Crazy In Philly (VIDEO)

As Obama was leaving Philadelphia, kids from Friends Select, a Quaker school across the street from his hotel, gathered at the gates.

An agent stood near the kids, who after about 15 minutes of waiting started chanting "Obama! Obama!"

When he came out of the hotel Obama crossed the street wearing a big grin. He shook hands and chatted with the kids for about a minute, smiling the whole time.

The kids jumped up and down and cheered. He shook a few hands through the bars of the gate.

I loved this video and the other video with him and the kids in the auditorium. Are the Media also showing these videos? They seem to love to focus on just cynical topics. They really should show these. After a long day it was a positive pick me up watching those cute little kids. I think the rest of America could use a nice pick me up as well if only for a few minutes.

Reminds me of when I was a kid, getting out of a movie one early Saturday evening, to find out that Presidential. Candidate John Kennedy was due to make a speech in the square. We three kids managed to get a place front and center right at the barricades. When Kennedy did arrive, tall policemen stood in front of us, blocking our view; all I could see was the top of Kennedy's head. Still we were all so excited and didn't get home until after 10pm. No one was worried though, figuring where we'd been and with traffic in a gridlock.

I've said it before, no elected official has ever had such an effect on children. When I was in elementary school the Presidents were Nixon, Ford, and Carter. I know they did not spark this kind of enthusiasm. Usually only celebrities and athletes draw attention like this. When I was in HS, Oprah came to our school. "I see mocha, I see chocolate.­..." she said and I forget the rest. I work for the Fed Gvt, maybe President-Elect Obama will come visit my workplace one day soon.
