There is going to be a vicious backlash from Obama's winning the presidency. In light of history and every incremental step taken in the march for civil rights, there has always been a backlash. Desegregation fueled the fires of hatred, as did the decision to give blacks the vote. But this time will be different. Thoe who cannot stomach the thought of a black man governing the country will be relentless in their efforts to railroad him. But it is evident, no matter what happens, that it's not about Obama anymore. It i about a movement that cannot be turned back. It was written into the American constitution long before it became reality.

We have to realize that this was a very difficult campaign for Obama and that he life was one the line since the day he announces and that according to reports the secret service is working overtime..­.

Therefore this is a man who knew the risk of running for president and risked his life for us and our country. We must make sure he his protected to the MAXIMUM - no cut-backs or downsizing in the security department no matter how animiec our national economy is. Good idea, but we should do more than just monitor them. We should try to get some laws established. I don't know why anyone was not arrested for that magazine article. That article was a threat. A target, and the words kill were used, that is a little bit more than freedom of speach. If it was any other President or PRES elect, they would be locked up.

You americans have been given a unique opportunity to reclaim status on the world stage, an opportunity to solve your dire economic situation and Barack Obama is the catalyst. Give this man the support he needs and at least allow him to try to solve some if not all the problems. Racism is probably the singular most divisive element in this equation. Excellent points that will, unfortunately, fall on deaf ears when it comes to white supremacists. These are incredibly insecure people we are talking about here, suze. They have already convinced themselves there is such a thing as racial purity and they are the defenders of it. They have convinced themselves there is something noble and precious about maintaining their racial "purity" and, as a consequence, believe the mere presence of other races is an affront.

I don't believe there is any possibility of reasoning with these fools. They must be understood and countered at every turn. If the Secret Service, ATF, and the FBI can't handle it, perhaps there are others who can. Surely, infiltration should be an easy task. Perhaps there are ways to expose their activities that hold them up to scorn and ridicule such that they'll be too busy defending their actions to be capable of any truly dangerous, concerted activities.

These reports are going to give this movement more exposure and legitimacy. The problem needs to be dealt with on a local and private scale, as well as severe law enforcement policy. Making exposes and mini-docs about this movement is NOT the way to quell any fears or momentum this movement might have.

"The movement" has been out there for a long time. Sometimes these folks are like mushrooms. Sunshine is the best disinfectant. (Mixed metaphors, yeah.)

That some commenters are so naive is the best reason for getting this stuff out there. "I don't get it." Comments about David Duke when clearly the commenter doesn't know Duke's history.

Lots of folks here don't even know to join anti-hate groups. Commenting, praying, love, and hope don't cut it in combating "the movement." Awareness, activism, legal actions, and making them go broke do.

And I agree with YOU. These people need to be exposed, and Americans need to know that they're out there! One of the reasons they've been able to increase in numbers and in their activities is because they've been kept under cover for too long.

This is also why so many well-intended Americans reacted so harshly to Reverend Wright when he talked about racism in America. They didn't know and/or didn't want to believe the awful truth of which he spoke, so they killed the messenger to erase the message. Yet, what we saw at the McCain/Palin rallies and what we are seeing or hearing about now is a reality in America that we need to know about and seriously confront, and as you say, it will take more than expressing our anger and disgust on a blogsite.

People who are struggling financially are more likely to be recruited by a group that can convince them that something is being stolen from them. It's stupid thinking that makes no sense, but unfortunately it always works.

Most movements that embrace extremist thinking have used this method for recruitment. From the German Nazis to Islamic Fundamentalists, economic instability is always a common thread.

Actually it's usually bad or abusive parents who cause White Supremacy. Thenyoung guys get recruited by older men who take them in as "family" and they preach these beliefs to them.

An economics do cause racism - white disenfranchised workers often blame minotiries for taking their jobs when they should be blaming the rich white Republicans who sold thier jobs overseas to the lowest bidder.
