CNN Political Ticker:

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's rock-star status could solidly position her to lead the Republican Party in four years, but former top Bush aide Karl Rove said the "marketplace of ideas" will ultimately decide her political future.

"Republicans believe in markets, so the marketplace of ideas will decide what the answer [to her future] is," Rove told NBC Tuesday. "These people are going to get out there, campaign, offer their ideas, offer themselves."

"Republicans believe in markets, so the marketplace of ideas will decide what the answer [to her future] is," Rove told NBC.

Great. I bid a buck and a half for the sum total of the contents of Palin's brain.

I agree if ideas, thoughts, substance, etc are involved then we will be safe from Palin. If talking points, fear and hate prevail she will be in the mix.
I cannot conceive of her debating any intelligent Republican and winning.

I can. She's bright, charismatic, attractive, and will have had a lot more experience handling the media by then.

If Palin's future depends on a "marketplace of ideas", I can now feel safe that she has no future in politics. That comment, delivered by the Repug master of spin and slime himself, makes it a sure thing she can't hire Rove to spin her a resume or a platform or ethics.
At the national governors conference, Palin couldn't even make it through her short remark -- intended to be witty and biting against the Dems -- without (a) maligning McCain by saying that governors are more important than senators and (b) without using the word "appreciative" more times in two minutes than most people use in two years. If she decides to run in 2010 for Murkowski's senate seat, this YouTube moment will come back to haunt her, alongside her stumbling with Gibson, Couric and even James Dodson. The American public will have had two more years to witness her "governance" (without handouts, please) so even rednecks will have had time to sober up. Palin is a sure-fire example of style over substance. If she were a middle-aged white male, she'd be back at the starting post beside Joe the plumber.

Marketplace of News Quality Ratings information will determine if the major media will be able to continue to lie, spread misinformation, suppress important information or push the agenda of the few on the many.

Sign the FCC News Quality Rating System petition at http://FixNewsNow.org

We need this solution in place before the next election cycle.

Whatever happened to Joe the non-Plumber and his book?

amazon.com lists it with an ISBN and a count of number of pages, so it must exist in some form. But it's already "Out of Print--Limited Availability."

Why isn't FoxNews pushing it into a second printing?

Yeah, isn't it great that the future of the United States could have been placed in the hands of nothing more than eye-candy. Wow! I'll surely sleep better with that notion and I guess I have to look forward to Palin still being around in 2012. And, Rove, stating: "marketplace of ideas" was a nice way of TRYING to say: "she's as dumb as a set of bricks". We got it, Rove.

What ideas. Sarah Palin is a joke. We don't want any parts of her down here in the "lower 48". Her rabid taste and cut throat politics is a bit too much for the "intelligent" electorate. Somebody should tell her very soon because she is clueless. She thinks she can win the presidency with the votes of bigots and evangelical fanatics. Hurry up, tell her Karl.

"We don't want any parts of her down here in the "lower 48"."

It isn't just in the lower 48, her popularity is falling in the upper 1

This was really quite fascinating and thanks for posting it. I, do believe many folks thought news of Palin's pregnancy was bogus and that Trig was probably Bristol's child instead. Considering when it was announced that Bristol was pregnant, it was stated that she was 5 months along. No mention, whatsoever what her due date was, but I would suspect she should be giving birth sometime in December or early January. We shall see. What irritates me though, is the Rethug's have championed their cause for "family values" and yet, when Bristol's (supposed) preganancy came to light, voters were told to view it as an "unplanned pregnancy" instead. How convenient.

That's how it works. What's good for them is good for everyone when it comes to family values however, when something like an unplanned pregnancy happens then it's a "private family matter"....hmm.......makes me wonder.......shouldn't gay marriage be a "private family matter"???

A "marketplace of ideas" will ultimately decide Palin's political future? That is rather ironic considering Palin is totally devoid of ideas. What a joke! The Republican roadshow only gets better.

On hearing this, Palin immediately jumped in a cab and said, "Take me to the marketplace of ideas! And, also, too step on it!"
