WASHINGTON — President Bush's former political director says the national security team named by President-elect Barack Obama "represents, to a substantial degree, continuity" especially in hot spots like Iraq and Afghanistan.

Karl Rove said on NBC's "Today" show the naming of the national security team is "a reminder that continuity exists particularly in our foreign and international relations."

Rove pointed to the retention of Defense Secretary Robert Gates and the naming of James Jones as national security adviser, a Vietnam war veteran who rose to become a Marine four-star general and served as military chief of NATO during the Bush administration. Obama also named Hillary Rodham Clinton as his nominee for secretary of state.

He should be in jail. He helped to ruin this country and kill our soldiers for nothing. Don't listen to what he says. Like someone said, he is still trying to be a player.

For once, I actually agree with Rove, and I did vote for Obama. These appointments have been totally in line with the Bush doctrine and I feel like I have been conned by Mr. Obama. However, I will wait to see how these appointments play out into foreign policy. If this is an "example of keep your enemies closer," then I guess I can relax a little bit. If not, then I will know that the global elites/NWO set the agenda for the U.S., and not our elected officials. It's just that simple.

And this piece fails to mention that Jones is on the board of Chevron. It just wouldn't be the White House without some oilmen manipulating our foreign policy.

Karl Rove: desperate to stay relevant.

He still can't accept that the people utterly rejected everything he tried to build, including Bush.

Either its continuity and someone has pulled the wool over your eyes. Obama is not an idiot. What keeping the continuity does is that it gives the impression of a hawkish toughness thereby allowing Obama to move to the left. And 4 to 8 years from now you will realize that our Foreign policy has shifted from the neocon right wing unilateralism idelogy to diplomacy multilateral ideology. You all will be scratching your head how and when did this happen. I will tell you how and when. It happened when he introduced his team because they all highlighted something that folks in the media dont see because they are obsessed with visual. They see military men republican secretary of defense and thing Neocon Bush. But they ignore the thread that ties these people together. Its Sort of like when Obama started out this election as seeming to the left by focusing on his opposition to the war in Iraq but gradually became more to the center with his focus on war in Afghanistan shifts that was so subtle it wasnt even noticed. Then when the left started complaining you had some come out and say you know what he was always like this he just never really emphasized it during the primary.

I agree. Obama is always 10 steps ahead of everybody else and he proved that time and time again during the campaign.

I think he has already had a plan in place to get his agenda through, with or without a 60-Senate majority. It will be interesting to see how he does it.

Why do people keep listening to this felon (with a little luck). He & Newtie sold the Repubs to the Evangelicals & it's been a wild ride since, but not a successful one. He's wrong nearly all the time (big Palin support, like Limbaugh, and now they don't even like her in Alaska).

It's time for him to retire, back to the swamp from which he oozed. And take his Swiftboat Veterans for Nonesense with him!

Yeah, genius... kinda like how the arriving fire department represents "continuity" with the arsonist.

Stop kissing up Karl, you're not getting a gig in the Obama Whitehouse so you can take off the knee pads. Unless Bush or Gannon are planning to stop by for a visit.

Will we care about Rove's opinion when he's behind bars.
