Sen. Murkowski Warns Palin: Stay Away From My Seat

Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski has some Republican-to-Republican advice for Gov. Sarah Palin: If you want to make a run at the White House, keep your hands off my Senate seat.

Murkowski, up for reelection in 2010, is nervously awaiting word on whether John McCain's former running mate will run against her in the GOP primary. But she says Palin is the one who should be nervous.

"I can guarantee it would be a very tough election," Murkowski said in an interview.

Sarah Palin anounces she will run against Senator Lisa Murkowski R-Alaska, because "Murkowski is too liberal". "I'll show you liberal" retorts Murkowski, as she switches her party affiliation to Democrat.
This act now gives the democrats the 60 seat majority they needed to filibuster proof the Senate. Murkowski immediatly sponsers a bill that requires anyone running for national office to be able to pass High School level geography, government and social studies tests.

I'm having a little trouble getting too excited over a 2010 GOP senatorial primary race. Sarah Palin represents only the lunatic fringe of the GOP and is a great fit for Alaska, which is like no other place in the US. However, she doesn't play well on the national stage. Foxy but dumb works in Wasilla, but doesn't play in Peoria. If the GOP doesn't let her fade to obscurity they can look forward to getting their butts kicked again and again. Surely, they aren't that dumb, or are they?

I think Murkowski has definitely thrown down the gauntlet and said..."this is purr-sonal Sarah!" Unless Palin has some dirty info on Murkowski that can taint her then she'ss likely to lose a nasty primary. And even if she wins, the toll it takes may open the door to a Democrat winning the other Senate seat. Of course, Republicans will then hypocritically harp on the fact that having two Senators from the same party is "unhealthy"...but when did that stop them for decades from running people to fill the other Senate seat that wasn't reserved for Uncle Ted?
