WASHINGTON — Former President Bill Clinton says it was hard for his wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton, to decide to give up her Senate seat to become secretary of state in the Obama administration.

The former president told CNN in an interview aired Wednesday from Hong Kong his wife was "shocked" when she learned by reading newspaper articles that she was President-elect Barack Obama's likely choice for the nation's top diplomatic post. She's been a New York senator since 2001.

Deciding to give up her Senate seat "was hard," Bill Clinton said. "She adored being in the Senate."

Clinton says he'll probably be "a helpful sounding board" to his wife, but wasn't expecting any more involvement unless Obama "asks me to do something specific, which I'm neither looking for nor opposed to."

Just in case you were wondering, it seems Bush will be moving to Dallas:

Laura Bush confirms Wednesday that she and her husband will move to Texas's third-largest city after Inauguration Day -- though they don't have a place to move to yet.

Says she and her husband need to be careful with their holiday spending because "there might be a new house coming along."

My husband quipped that no other state will have him. Maine
just dedicated funds to a new fence just in case.

An international airport, lots of gated communities composed of BIG houses on large pieces of property, lots of business opportunities for Bush to m e s s up, world class shopping, etc. Yep, I can see that.

Just in case you thought Townhall.com had a tiny bit of credibility left:

Today, the Townhall.com spotlight features a fundraising plea from a foundation that wants to prove, in court, that Barack Obama wasn't born in the United States and is therefore ineligible to be president and therefore wants to do a whole lot of bad things involving amnesty, illegal aliens and the United Nations. Obama'd be the "Usurper in Chief." The birth charge is specious and has been convincingly refuted.

That would undermine his own wife. I mean that's going to be her job assuming her nomination is ultimately approved.

If Bill is offered work, it cannot be in SoS matters.

From Politico:
Clint0n could be named as a sort of super-ambassador on a specific issue like India, or on a broad topic like restoring goodwill for the United States abroad.

Super-embassador, you mean like SOS?

What a misleading headline.. ..Bill should do what he does best - schmooze - how about Envoy at Large?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:24 PM on 12/03/2008

Who writes the headlines around here? The front page says "Bill: I'd Work for Obama Too," while the article says: Clinton says he'll probably be "a helpful sounding board" to his wife, but wasn't expecting any more involvement unless Obama "asks me to do something specific, which I'm neither looking for nor opposed to." While he is certainly not shutting the door on working for this administration, "I'm neither looking for nor opposed to" working for the administration has an entirely different tone than "I'd work for Obama too." Given that Bill is known for being a bit of an attention hog, the headlline was believable - but also really misleading. It fed into people's preconceived notions (including my own), which is unfortunate because it seems he was being very careful in his words.

The Big Oil, NRA, Big Pharma, and all the rest "lobbyists" run our country.

So forget about the people's agenda.

Sure. If Big Oil ran the country and Bush was in bed with Big Oil you wouldnt be seeing $48 a barrell oil and rigs being idled.

Thats whats so absurd about the Bush/Oil mantra.

Huffpost,

This is front page? This is the best you can do - Bill saying he'll do what he can?

It's time to move off of the Clintons.

The gossip should end. It isn't news. Let's move to some real facts for a change...

How about what Detroit can do to fix itself (in 1989 a CRV got 60 mpg)? How about what Obama can do to lower availability of nuclear weapons? How about what the world is going to do on inaugeration day? How about inexpensive holiday gifts - origami for example - that people in a pinch can do.

This obsession is annoying, and continuing with this line makes your site boring and irrelevant.
