Broadcom Corp., the maker of chips for phones and consumer electronics, fired Senior Vice President Vahid Manian after questions surfaced about the validity of academic degrees listed in his company biography.

Now this guy gets fired for falsifying and embellishing his resume, so his firing serves him right.

But what about a person who is surrepitiously awarded a college degree against one's wishes so that the school in question could shirk its fiduciary obligations to that student, and that student refuses to put that degree in question in his or her resume in protest. That person's not falsifying or embellishing his resume in any way, that person is omitting something that is questionable at best and legally criminal at worst.

Hmmm...one has to wonder--if thorough background checks were performed for all of the executives of the major corporations [in insurance, Finance, and industry], just how many would prove to be scam artists who hold their positions due in part to fraudulent degrees?

With the exception of small company owners who have built their companies from the ground up through hard work & determination, I can't help but view the majority of corporate officers as bunch of egotistical scam artists who are out to make mega-bucks at others' expense, and then exit the scene ASAP, sailing away on golden parachutes, laughing at our gullibility as they wire their spoils to offshore accounts....
