Georgia Sen. Saxby Chambliss, fresh off his victory in a runoff election against Democrat Jim Martin, says Sarah Palin gave him the boost he needed. "I can't overstate the impact she had down here," the Republican Senator said in an interview on Fox News Wednesday morning.

"We had John McCain and Mike Huckabee and Gov. Romney and Rudy Giuliani, but Sarah Palin came in on the last day, did a fly-around and, man, she was dynamite," Chambliss said. "We packed the houses everywhere we went. And it really did allow us to peak and get our base fired up."

"When she walks in a room, folks just explode," he added. And they really did pack the house everywhere we went. She's a dynamic lady, a great administrator, and I think she's got a great future in the Republican Party."

Chambliss was forced into a runoff when he failed to win a majority of the vote on November 4th. In Tuesday's runoff, he beat Martin by double-digits.

Looking like the Dems will have a 59-41 majority in the senate and only the GOP could act like they just won the whole ball of wax...amazing the balls on these people.

anyways, looks like Mitch is going to have his hands full keeping those 40 senators in line, because if even ONE decides not to shovel the sh.. for him, he'll be in a losing position. I wonder if those moderate Republican Senators from Maine are going to chance their own political futures on keeping filibusters in place.

Won't be just the two from Maine. With Mel Martinez announcing his retirement I see his moderate self coming out more vocally. He'll have no incentive to fall in line. On many issues I see him snubbing the conservative Repubs and voting with the Dems.

Doesn't look good for Georgia.

Nothing looks good for Georgia. We have three ineffectual government officials: Chambliss, Perdue and Shirley Franklin

I'm not sure why it's big news that a Republican got elected to the senate in Georgia. That's hardly a "man bites dog" story.

It is because Chambliss was the one person that kept the Democrats from getting the majority in the Senate.

We have the majority. We just don't have the super majority.

And he also credited Palin with McCain's double digit victory.
If it was not for her McCain would have lost to Obama. Pubies live in a world of denial.

Well at least I'd rather read fairy tales on how Palin is to credit for Chambliss' win than fairy tales about how Obama is to blame for Martin's loss.

That's why Obama didn't go down there, he knew he didn't stand a chance.

i see she's promised to bring him along for the ride when she runs in 2012, in exchange he spouts some nonsense about her being an influential figure in the republican party at the national level. at least this way we'll have the added benefit of another idiot going down with her circus next time around.

There's no "r" in shame or Chambliss, and no shame in "R's" or Chambliss.

Sarah did nothing. The bigots in Georgia are responsible for your win, Chambliss. Why, I will never know, especially after what you did to Max Cleland.

That was probably part of the bargain to get her to speak on his behalf - if you win, you have to give me all the credit. Not to mention she got a little more national tv time. Good job Sarah...take credit for a runoff that you guys were supposed to win anyways. You can have Georgia and South Carolina, and we'll take the rest of the east coast.

You know it is funny to me that I can't seem to stand any states the are red anymore. I was wondering if I was nuts or were there any others that felt that way. I know that there are good people in those red states but they must be out numbered by lunatics. Palin having an effect on the people there to elect Chambliss is a laugh.

"When she walks in a room, folks just explode,"

So now she's responsible for spontaneous combustion as well. There is no level she won't sink to.

The key words: DOWN THERE. The rest of the country saw through the entire pick of this ignorant, uneducated witch.

I've got an idea for a new reality show. Follow candidates around and watch them compete against each other. The LOSER gets her house in Alaska.

That's a bunch of BULL. Neither one of the Republicans who showed up to campaign for Saxby made an impact. Georgia is a Red State. The only reason Jim Martin even came close was because of Barack Obama. Martin never stood a chance in a runoff. The Republican party likes to create fantasy. Palin is not that popular. The right wing lunatics love her and she is fodor for the media. Don't believe the hype.
