Heidi Montag's mom opens up in the new issue of Us Weekly about her "devastation" over her perceived loss of her daughter to Spencer Pratt - whom, she says, may have even drugged Montag before their surprise Mexico elopement.

"He's manipulative and seems to have power over Heidi," Darlene Egelhoff, 46, told Us in an exclusive interview from her home in Crested Butte, Colorado the day after Montag, 22, blew off Thanksgiving with her family to stay with Pratt in Cabo San Lucas., the site of her Nov. 20 elopement. "I would like to see a blood test from Mexico. It wouldn't surprise me if he had her drugged."

You can tell he's an as* by his comment about her mother. First rule of choosing a great husband: see how he talks to his mother, and how he talks about yours. If it's negative in the slightest, get a new guy.

Heidi Montag's mother will just have to step back and wait this out. Sometimes mothers do know best and can spot trouble for their children a mile away. However, they have to let their children make their own mistakes too. Heidi's probably so in love with this right now and has blinders on. She's only 22 so when he showed interest in her she was infatuated.

Any man who doesn't want his girlfriend/wife to enjoy a relationship with her own family & friends is showing signs of control.

Unfortunately this has all the red flag markings of an abusive relationship. The first sign is the potential abuser turns the person against close friends and family, isolating them. This girl seems very naive and not the brightest bulb, but does not deserve to be emotionally and/or physically battered which he has done publicly on camera. Controlling aholios like Pratt should be dropped from the Hills instead of used for drama and see how he deals with that - my guess is he tells her she HAS to leave the show because of how they are treating him. Maybe then her family, friends, and coworkers could stage an intervention to get her away from him for good citing cases like OJ and Scott Peterson to show the behaviour pattern and similarities between them. However, like addiction, she has to come to that conclusion by herself. Hopefully she will see the light before anything bad happens. He just reeks creepy, IMO.
